What have you done so far

I got the plans from the box in the library, been to the basement where the reactor is but I need some kind of energy(hampster) to make things work. So I have been to all the rooms that have items to gather but still can't make progress.

you have to get the tent from attic before you go to the Caves.  You will need it there

I got the tent set up and picked up the big green jug inside but still don't know how to get into the cave?
