Use them with the hot pipe and then go as faster as you can to the king's room and put them on the floor.

Go back into the room where you originally got the candles; use them with the hot pipe so that when Cedric holds the candles near it, the wax will melt. Quickly climb up to the King's master bedroom and set up the candles there before the wax dries up. I suppose it's the melted wax that acts as candle holders and keeps them in place on the floor. (that's just what I'm guessing)
