The berries are in the locked garden, you need a key (a WELL made key, I might add) to get in.
Have you been in the Skoog Forest yet? Helped the dwarf? In that case you already have the hook.

Okay, I got the string from the rope, but something is weird. I'm suppposed to use the lemon peel with the string and the tar to make something strong. Like an anchor for the rope so I can get the key to get the berries to give to the girl. When I try to make the hemp spell, Melrin says: "I can't use those ingredients together ??? ??? What gives :'(
Title: Re: melrin 3
Post by: Joacim Andersson on Wed 17/11/2004 01:01:22
It looks like you've mainly been reading the spoilers in this thread rather than, in the game, reading how the spell is made ;). The spell can be used on hemp (rope, string). However nowhere does it say that you need that to create the spell. There is a difference you know. :) You don't need a mouth to make a cake but it's nice to have one if you want to eat it...

J.A.,
You're the best! I got the key and was able to get the berries. Now I have to make milk to get cheese. I need honey to do that but now how do I get the bees away from tree?  Is this where I use the relaxer spell? Also which do I get red silk?
Title: Re: melrin 3
Post by: Joacim Andersson on Wed 17/11/2004 06:18:52
Spoiler
You're already have something made of silk it's just not the correct color so you have to fix that somehow.... Maybe use something that is green? No that would be the wrong color wouldn't it? So you think the bees need to relax? Well they usually are very busy creatures aren't they?

Make sure you read the spells very carefully. The text are often very clear hints on what they should be used for. Also since Melrins magical power has grown a lot since I made they first Melrin game the items needed for a spell might not need to be EXACTLY the thing it says as long as it could be interpreted or look as such an item.

I'm using the gold stone and feather together but I don't have the knife anymore, the dwarf stole it. Don't I need to seperate the bunch of feathers to get one?  ::)

What an enjoyable game! Made me feel clever, too. And now it's making me feel dumb. The former because I got through almost all of it without hints... the latter because I can't find anything like a dreamcatcher, and none of the items I have (feathers, translator, [2 easter eggs, map, cauldron, spellbook], lemon and tar) make one. How unfortunate.

You have missed an item on the Island of Gastar...

The spoiler below will tell you what it is.
Spoiler
It's a rope that you must combine with something you already have.

The next spoiler will tell you where to find it.

Spoiler
It's by the tree on the first screen when you enter this island.

Well, well, what a sneaky bit. :) I did have the nagging feeling that it was something in Gastar, but I musta passed that by 20 times and never seen it.

Finished, thanks. Very good game, all in all.

What second bowl?
Spoiler
The second bowl is on the Garden Island. Look carefully around you on the first screen. You'll need this to get the water under the Skoog Forest. When you exit from there talk to the man that has now appeared outside.

Of course I'm sure you remember this clearly--it's only been, what 14 months? Anyway, no bowl to be found--on the first screen or anywhere on that island.

Yes it was. Thanks you ver much. By the way, did you/will you complete Melrin 4? I understand how real life can get in the way of plans.
