5 Days: Teddy on a Stick

OK, I have the salty teddy on a stick (sounds kinda tasty in a vaguely kinky sort of way.  Anyway, I wave this "Matthew-finder" over the kids bed, Trilby says "I guess that should do it", but nothing happens!!
Any suggestions?

Just use it (you have to do this many times), it will guide you to where you should go.

I've "used" the stupid thing many times on the bed and with everything else in every room and outside.   Still no help.

I believe, you must "look" at it. Then it will give you directions like "down", "left" or so
