QFG 4.5 giant?

i just cant seem to find the giant and the fairies...when i follow the map from the walkthrough i end up in a place with stones and mushrooms...am i supposed to do something to make the fairies appear or am i at the wrong place

The faeries only apear at night I think....At least thats how it was in the original qfg...
