8 Rats?  :o You only need 3 rats...   ;D

There's a slight problem with the rat-counter which leaves you at a dead end I'm affraid (the fist rat isn't counted). The rat-counter is the small squared one on top of the action counter.

Actually you don't do anything with the chips. When you walk over to a terminal and select the Crew Files you can read the info for the member you have the chip for (which in your case is all).

Did you:

Spoiler
- Bring the toolkit from Ted to Eric?
- Talk to Del about the status?
- Suck all rats?

When you visit a terminal (there's almost one in every room) you can choose for Help. This is a hint-system that will give you a clue of where you are and what to do next.

Would it be possible to fix the rat counter bug? Or is there a workaround? I would like to finish the game!

Well, there is a way to finish the old version. I've uploaded the old one here (http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/downloads/) and you can read here (http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/murphys-salvage-walkthrough-angela-smedley2008/) how to finish the game.

Warning: the game will be spoiled though since you have to do various actions in a specific order. So if you really want to finish the game, there you go. If not, you'll have to wait for a debugged version.
