Possible bug in Maniac Mansion Deluxe?

I've finished the original game more than once on the c64 and the c64 emulator for the pc.  I've decided to try the newest version of it which I learned is almost the same but much more improved.  Great work on that!

I seem to be having a couple of problems.  One is major.  You're supposed to be able to use the Paint Remover on the Paint Blotch, but nothing happens when I try it.  I've tried it during various parts of the game (near the beginning, much later, etc). 

The other problem is when I start a new game, I often don't get the package delivered.  Ringing the doorbell doesn't do anything either.  I've probably finished at least 40% of the game and still no package.  I tried starting a new game and same thing.  Tried again and finally got it, I haven't done anything different that time.  Unfortunately, paint remover still doesn't work.

Any ideas or is this some random bug?

This stuff should probably be in a hints section, though I know you thought it was a bug so .. ^_^

The paint remover thing gets a LOT of people. I had a lot of trouble with it. It turns out you have to 'open' the tin and THEN use the paint brush on the tin, and then use the paint brush on the blotch on the wall.

I can't remember what triggers the package delivery off-hand but I'll have a think about it. I'm sure someone else will know.

Thanks for the reply.  Opening the tin eh? I don't recall having to do that in the previous versions and the 3 walkthroughs I looked at on the web don't mention this.  I should've thought of it anyway and I'll try it.  You're probably right anyway.

The package is a bit more tricky so hopefully someone else can enlighten us on what triggers it.

About the package, you must wait, wait, wait. One or two "cut scenes" must be performed before you see the package one: and you can't do anything, as that's a game cut scene. Place one of your characters near the mail and go on with the game, don't worry, and it will come, sooner or later. I played and finished it at least three or four times now, and the mail has never failedÃ, 

Oh, that paint scene, I did it this way: tried the brush with the paint, and no way; so I saw i had to open it first.

Primus, can you tell me if DOOT and Maniac Mansion Deluxe are the same game

What's DOOT? Did you mean DOTT? DOTT is the sequel to Manaic Mansion, and MM Deluxe is a remake of the original MM, so MMD and DOTT are two different things.

I had trouble playing  the first Maniac Mansion so I gave it up.

I will try this new one
