I'm on chilak where do i get this rope everyone is talking about, the middle vendor was selling it but now they are not. all they have for sale now is the statue... I bought the horns already!
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

Are you sure you didn't buy the rope already ?

EDIT:
If you really can't buy a rope, can you tell me what did you exactly do before that ? If this is a bug, i must fix it.

magintz

It was odd, I had no coins. I went to teal'c's house but somehow ended up with the map for free. When i returned to the market the rope was gone.

I think it might be something to do with pressing the esc key to skip walking between scenes, perhaps this is something you should take out or at least cut down.

I think it is something with that map and no coins... i will look.

EDIT:
Hmm, strange, you should only get a free map if you have a rope...

EDIT 2:
I couldn't find a problem !?? But I made the script a bit different, I am using global integers to check if the player gets map for free, i hope this should work..

magintz

yea cool, i went back to a previous saved game and re-did it again, and i didn't get the map for free but I paid for it, and then managed to buy the rope. I've just got the gem and am loving the game so far. I'm looking forward to your next game a lot, and hope you can do a sequal to this being a HUGE stargate fan.

I was having the same problem with the missing piece.  I went back and restored an earlier saved game and it came back.  But more importantly, I figured out how to trigger the bug.  The piece is there after entering the ruins but talking to Daniel about the ruins makes the piece disappear.  Also, when using the purple button to change pieces, when the missing piece is selected (none of the other pieces are highlighted) the game seems to freeze if you try to move it.  It just come up with the Stargate ticking gate cursor and sits there until you close the window.

I hope this info helps.

Can you tell me which version did you play!?

You can see the version in options menu (down-right).

So far I am unable to replicate the problem :S

But strange thing is that I had this problem before a released first version but i fixed it... guess not :S

edit:

This is really getting on my nerves, i just can't replicate this error again !!! If i look at the code, i cannot find anything that could do this.... darn !

AntoineWG

Version 1.1 from Home of the Underdogs.

If you like, I can email you savegames from before and after.

Fortunately the solution is simple.  Don't talk to Daniel before solving the puzzle.

Well I think i fixed the bug , i think !? It should already work fine in version 1.21, as i found that i forgot some braces ( {,} ). I hope this will work now.

Strange is that i tried to replicate the problem but it doesn't happen, so i guees you trigger the first part it before even talking with Daniel in the tomb, and the second part when you talk to him about ruins.

There is no need to send savegames, as i know how it looks, i just forgot which block dissapear !? As I heard the one of those with horizontal line, which one first (upper) or second (lower) ?

Thanks for the info..

You can try version 1.21 if you want to check for this bug, and experiance new, improved english .

StrongKanegou

Yeah! I found the tongs and sold them on Chulak!
Great game !!!

Sektor 13

You can use tongs before Chulak too. :)

StrongKanegou

Okay, got it. I used them

Hehe, you have one giant easter egg in the Stargate Command (2nd mission) too, and one small one (look on the LCD monitor in command room for small easter egg... try to find the second)  A tip:

You need a special key...

Hi there,

Sektor 13,  a question. Can you tell what imaging software you used to create the backdrops/ characters  in Stargate adventure. Im trying to color in scanned handdrawn stuff, but im not sure how to get that pixelated/old skool look. is it just a matter of adjusting the image size afterwards, or do i have to work with a limited palette?

thanks,

Daan.

Hi

I use Pain Shop Pro 10, i didn't draw any pictures by hand. they were all done in PSP 10, pixel by pixel, i worked with 32-bit colors and resolution of 320x240. You can get the poxel aspect with layers and filters, like using NOISE function to add pixels troughout the picture, or scan the image you draw, than resize it to like 320 x 240 or 320x200 and the use brush (size 1) and draw over your "hand painted" picture.

If you already draw the entire picture in higher resolution (like 640x480 or 800x600...), then resizing it to smaller resolution could blur the entire picture, and that doesn't look very nice.

Or you could try to make the game in 640x480 or higher.

Hmm

I was playing 1.2 of this game... it's nice, but the English translation needs a bit of work... also I'd recommend whoever is doing the translation to go back and watch as many SG1 episodes as possible to get the best feel for the characters.  For example, Bra'Tak would call O'Neilll just "O'Neill" and not "General O'Neill" or whatever he calls him.  Also Bra'Tak would probably greet Teal'C with "Tek Ma Te", however it's spelled, and Teal'C would probably do so likewise.

A couple other specific things the game needs to clarify, at least in the English translation (my apollogies if any of this has already been addressed):
- The manual sucks for those of us who don't have Word or can't afford it.  There are easy tools for converting it to a PDF so it will look right for everyone (and Acrobat Reader is free).  Another popular option is HTML, but you'd have to rewrite it for that.
- The manual calls Jack a "Col. Brig.".  His title is "Brig. Gen." or Briggadeer (I have no clue how to spell that) General.
- Why there's no MALP at the first planet when you first go in (maybe one should be added?)
- Jack would address Sam as "Major Carter" or just "Carter" as per millitary protocol.  Not "Sam".
- This is just personal preference, but the first SGA screen should show "Stargate Command" on the first line, and "Cheyenne Mountain Pass" on the second.  Every show I've seen with such a screen has the most specific location on the topmost line.
- You seemed to have confused Walter (I dunno his rank) with Major Davis. :-X
- Also personal preference: The time there should be in millitary time, ie "16:15 Hours".  A date would be nice too.  For the other screens an absolute date and time (ie "19:15 Hours" instead of just 3 hours later) would also fit with the military style.
- One of the other Generals' lines in the White House is white colored and spoken by Jack.  Oops!
- At the point where Jack is told he is being reassigned, the subject switch seems awkward.  Jack should probably say "Ok just cut the crap, why am I here, sir." and then the General tells him.
- How can Carter talk to O'Neill when the comm system fails?  Is she just off screen in the gate room or control room? (Her location is never quite disclosed.)
- Who is the voice that is colored red in that screen?  I think it's the guy who's with Carter, except at one point it says "me and Dr. <hisname>" making it look like Carter is talking.
- The self destruct sequence would likely NOT be shut down with the power.  It likely is self-sustained to prevent a power failure from stopping a WANTED self-destruct.  You could change the dialog slightly by saying the power failure will shutdown the base mainframe, stopping the test program.  Then the self destruct can be easily deactivated (by Sam even... that's a good excuse for her to stay behind).
- Why does noone go with Jack to help him turn off the breaker?  Excuses are needed.
- Clarification might be needed as to why the radio doesn't work in the base sequence (IE: "Carter doesn't have a radio with her.") and of other "No reply" messages (IE: "Teal'C and Daniel are offworld.")
- Also clarification is needed as to why Jack went alone to Chulak.  Teal'C and Daniel are in trouble and the SGC does not know what kind.  At the very least O'Neill would have taken a team through with him.  At least a lame "We know Chulak is run by free Jaffa" excuse would be nice. ;)
- Clarification is needed as to why Teal'C and Daniel have maintained radio silence.  SGC would have dialed Chulak ASAP after the base systems were restored and attempted radio contact.  As well, you can call them when you are on Chulak as well.  Perhaps Daniel left his vest on the surface, and Teal'C's broke (you could say he was at the surface when the pillar collapsed on him, sending him tumbling into the hole.  When he hit bottom his radio broke, or something).

Annd I haven't gotten farther than that (apparantly if you use the rope before the metal bar on the pillar you can't use the bar... so I'm going to start over.)

Also.. imo it's best to have a native English speaker do the translation.  That way the worst errors would be due to mistranslation from the source... which can still be spotted.  But grammar and spelling will be much improved.

Grr... none of your mirrors are working for me.  I'm sorry but can you try to find some decent webhosting? :/

One last thing... despite all my nit-picking, this is a pretty cool game.  The high quality of some of the stuff surprised me.

The MAZZTer

Sorry for the doublepost... two more things...

I got the rapidshare url to work, but it sucks. :(

Also the AVIs don't work ingame.  I get some DirectX error about something not initing.  No other games/programs have problems with DirectX or AVIs.

ok first things firts :).

This download link should work normaly: http://www.adventure-eu.com/index.php?option=com_repository&cat_id=1&game_id=69&file_id=63

Do you have any problems with it?
---------------------------------------------
Well, CoyoteJack was translating from translation source file, which makes it difficult to know who is saying what, so some parts are a bit wrong, like Teal'cs abbriviations (it is - it's ...)

-Well I know about the manual, but as far as i know word readers are free of charge. I tried to convert it to PDF but in complicates things, as the file becomes much larger if i want it too look normal.
-I read that oficial Jacks rank is Col.Brig. .... but you could be right, i really don't know.
-Malp was sent on to the first planet but fell of that cliff, where the wall is missing (i think Jack says something about that if you look at the "cliff".)
-Jack uses "Sam" a lot of times as far as I know.
-It could be, but it is not :). Second screen showes monitor picture of the dialing program (to some point)
-About Davis-Walter , read this:http://www.gateworld.net/omnipedia/characters/links/harrimanwalter.shtml
-I guess you are right about the time (I think that in the europe a lot of countries use 24hrs time, like my too but i thought that Americans only use 12hrs (pm, am)... my mistake
-Didn't know that ! ups
-Well, you never know about his responce :)
-Major Carter is in area 51 if i remember from the top of my head, it could be that i forgot to mention it. not sure. How the comm works!? Hmm, i think you got me, this could be an error... :(
-Red colored voice is from a person further to the right (offscreen) I was to lazy to draw him :S
-I think you'we got it, as the main computer shuts down, there is no new informations for self destruct - test is aborted.
-Jack tried to contact other personell but the comm is down, se he went alone (if you want it done, you must do it yourself - thingy :) ). And there was very little time to do it. And it is more intense that way too:).
-You shouldn't have radio when in SGC, i guess i forgot to "remove" the button :(
- I guess you are right ! Allthou some parts are better to let the player use his imagination :).
Daniel and Teal'c left their walkie talkies on the surface.

Are you sure you cannot use metal rod anymore !??? Try to use it a bit higher on the pillar .hmm

As far as i know translator is native English speaker.

-----------
You are very welcome to comment the game parts even more, i like peoples analyzing my game, there is always a room for improvement.
