I'm struggling to get started in digital spell.

I've found the melt brain spell and used on guard. I'm guessing that each spell has 4 lines. I've found lamp. It shows letter F I've tried all ways of making letter F but each time spell is of no use. What am I doing wrong? Have read various threads but still can't work out how this game works. Can anyone help to get started?
I wish someone would help on this one ...............I'm still waiting for help re...................I have picked up spells from crumbling wall, the machine, cat, lamp and reaper, also the melt brain one. I think I have to use a spell on the host to get into the suite but none of these spells works on him, I have tried also interracting on all doors and everything I can think of but can't find another spell..............help needed please
