How do you get the pepper?

I have string, key, empty shaker, magnifying glass with no lens, I am assuming I have to make John sneeze with pepper to get his lens I have done everything with the chef that I can think of Tried getting the pepper when she had her arms up but it won't work for me

for the pepper, fill the empty pot with explosive powder and then use on John
