I cannot get the toy cat. I always get 'no use' or 'why'. So I moved on and kept going back to buy the toy cat. No luck.  Now I've locked the guard and according to walkthru I should now use the toy cat on the preserved cat, but I still cannot get the toy cat.

Do I have to restart the game or is there still a way to get the cat?

Have you tried talking to the store clerk?

Yes I did, but  I keep answering 'not yet, I'll keep looking'.

What do you have in your inventory?

Thanks for answering.  My inventory consists of: (crowbar, axe, sign, oars, mouse toy, empty tube, and photo of giant).
Hope you can help me.

Hmm, I don't know.  Have you tried looking at the stuffed cat and then talking to the clerk?
Maybe someone else knows, but I pesonally can't think of anything else for you to do.  Just click around a little and see if there's something you've forgotten and if that doesn't work, you might just have to try starting over.
Sorry I couldn't help more.  :-\

Thanks, you were very helpful.  I did 'look' at the cat and this time I must have hit the right spot because I got the cat and finally finished the game. :)

Hey that's great!  I'm glad I was more helpful than I originally thought.  I feel almost useful now.  ;)  Congrats on finishing.  :)
