help please...

I'm in the wood, I have the stick, compass & rifle. I understand that need something to see into the hole or do something with the hole but nothing works. What do I do next?

place the stick on the ground near the hole, and use the compass with the cave wall.

Sergio I did play Ben Jordan but it was a long time ago, how can I remember every puzzle from there?
