Can't defeat Tralaz in Quest to Zooloo

I feel really stupid, but I can't figure out how to throw the lightnings at Tralaz.  I pick them up and then try to click on Tralaz, but nothing happens.  I know you have to do it 5 times, but I really don't know what to do.  Can't finish the game if I can't get passed this part.
