Help been stuck for half an hour got everything except

so when you get to the location next to the ship, about where your character appears, behind you is a crate with salt, a little left of the middle of the screen

I'm only stuck cause I can't find that damn chervil, found everything else, but after looking for it for 15 minutes I give up. Anybody know where it is? I've searched all the places more than 3 times, but still can't find it. Plus I had to check on the net what it is exactly.

a way to attach the wheel to the plane's dashboard. Also in the docks there's the forklift lever that needs to be oiled (?) except I have nothing to carry oil in, assuming I get it from the pump.

I'm pretty sure I need to paint the shirt like a sailor shirt in order to trick the sailors into giving me the password, but I don't have anything to paint with. Or maybe I am completely on the wrong track here--at any rate, if I am wrong about the shirt, then what do I need to do to get onto the ship?

my inventory is fishing pole,peppers wrench paint brush with paint mop ginger.been on both ships,put forks down on lift truck can't get the forklift running,can't get salt,i think a motor is in the big box?can't talk to cook can't add to stew,went to diner 3 times,can't get around dog,it will not eat my peppers or ginger,can't get in the diner,talked to sailors,talked to mama,same thing over and over.got prop and pin for steering for plane.thats it i'm stuck,can't do nothing.need help and a lot of it.thanks

you have a fishing pole, you know what you do with a fishing pole, right? find a good fishing spot, it overlooks the city and the bridge and fish

I'm in the same situation.  I read the hints given in response to this post and I still can't figure out what to do next.  I guess I need a more explicit hint.

Okay, what you really need to do is to deal with the dog.  Once you do that, it'll open up a whole lot more.  Uncover one hint at a time until you're no longer stuck:

Don't try to feed the dog anything.  It's not that stupid.

Interact with the bookcase in the loft (the one on the left, IIRC).  You should find some chervil pressed between the pages of a book.
