Hi all,

I'm stuck close to the end of the game (or so it seems):

I have the following items:
diary, gun, staff, two white kings and two black ones, a pearl necklace, a hook, a chunk of coal, two silver rings and the feather (down).

I have tried everything I can think of, and I still don't get the fourth quest. I think I'm supposed to crush the chess kings to a powder, but I can't figure out how.

You figured out right, that you need something to crush the kings. A stone maybe?

Wow, that WAS a quick reply! Thanks for the hint, I missed that detail.

And it also explains why I was getting "I already have the stone" when using other objects on the well... I just didn't think of using the staff.

Now I've finished it (only two endings, I'm afraid), but I'm hungry for knowledge. Would you give some insight on what really is going on?

This is a great game.... but I have some problems...

I can't defeat the Wizard in chess. He tells me to get better, but I can't finde anyone or anything that can make me better.
I have coin, diary, pillow, nail, apple, can, sleeping pill
I thought of using the sleeping pill in the Wizard's blue cup, but "he'll see me"

That must be one of the strangest puzzles I've seen since the "bend the piece of iron twice puzzle" in Fightmeyer's Noisy Mountain...

Just finished the game. Found two of the possible three endings, but there should be a third, so...

any ideas about how to get the revolver without paying with the coin - it's made of silver and could be used for making a second bullet which could be used for shooting the mysterios "Miss". I don't know why I want to do this, but I think it would help. I tried paying with the pillow, but he just took it without giving me the gun.

Read carefully the list of items that I was carrying around... don't you notice something weird?

I've put the wizard to sleep, pulled the carpet but the trapdoor seems unselectable.

I've read the diary. Talked to the tavern owner and the beggar and now i've got the revolver and a glass of water.

What should I do now?

The first one is the one outside the tavern where you can walk to the  door to get stew. your character scales when you walk on the right hand side (closest to edge of screen the character doesnt scale)

then of course there is the one area of the carpet...

I don't really understand how I managed to end up with two silver rings, I thought it was a bug. Same goes with the White King. Who'd have guessed it would actually been used to make a second shot.

One thing I fail to understand is how did some people end up with a black king?And what significance does it have?

the black king is also on the chessboard, though i have no idea what it's used for.

Where do you get the nail?  I've looked all over and can't seem to find it.

You already have the feather. You just don't know it...

I don't know about the stew place. I've finished the game and I didn't get in - but maybe there is some secret way to do it - some sort of bonus puzzle.

I've read through this thread a few times now.  I see how some have gotten two silver rings.  How is this done?  I'm able to pick up a second white king from the chess board, but when I talk to the lady again, there is no option to ask her for another ring. 

Also, is there any significance to getting the stew at the beginning of the game?

Lakerz, the second silver ring and duplicate chess kings are bugs and unneccecary for the third ending.

Edit: Got it this time!  Third ending makes a whole lot more sense than the first two.  ;)

@lakerz: Here is a hint, that might help you:

Remember, that you traded the silver coin for the revolver? There is a way to keep the coin. You just have to find other things to trade.

Where are the white king for,  never used it ?

I know where the feather should be... but if I've already given the third pillow tot he beggar, how do I get it?!?!? Ã, He won't do anything with the two on the bed and the beggar's now disappeared...

If you didn't get the feather from the pillow, there should appear another one near the well, when you need it.

I can't find the feather near the well either. I've given the homeless man a pillow, so I can't get it from there, and I've defeated the second phantom there.
I also can't find the coal, if anyone could give me a small hint.
Also: is this a bug? I managed to open the trapdoor, but I can't walk down, whether I 'walk' 'pick up' or anything. Do I just need to wait until I'm further into the game?[\hide]

i feel rather stupid, but i dont know how to get the staff...i have the nail, an apple, the can, the feather, the coin,the stew, the sleeping pill, the pillow, and my diary...ive tried everything with the windmill and cant get it to move, and i also cant seem to get the can to work on the ground...perhaps its not time..but i have no idea what to do next thanks for your help! P.S. NEVERMIND, GOT IT! THANKS.

I don't seem to be able to go anywhere other than my room, the bar and the area outside the tavern. How do I get anywhere else?

I knocked on the neighbour's door and asked for food but am now just being a bother.

So far, I have the coin, diary, apple, pillow and nail.

Ah, no problem - I found the path round the side of the tavern. Everything is so dark that I couldn't see it at first.

One SERIOUS bug with the interface...

If you load an earlier version of the game and then try to go back to your later version, you can't because all later versions are no longer in the list.

I was near the end, went back somewhere near the beginning and now, even though the save games still exist as files, I can't load any of them later than where I am near the beginning. So I've pretty much got to start all over again.

Grr! Fix this, please.

PS: Ah, no problem - all you need to do is close the game down and open it again, and they are all there. It's still a bug worth fixing, though.

I'm stuck on the third ending...

Miss and I are standing on the cliff. Walking away gives the first ending; talking to her and then walking away gives the second. But how do you get the third ending?

I have the stew. I haven't used the pearl necklace - I assume it's something to do with that. I can't give it back to her.

My mind is hazy, but getting the stew at the beginning is important.  There is a way to keep the coin w/o having to give it to the beggar but darn if I remember the trick now.

get the stew before, but now I'm stuck on what I can give the beggar so that I can keep the coin. I have given him the stew (maybe I should have held on it, I don't know, but I didn't find any other use for it when I got it before), an apple and the pillow (after taking out a feather). I tried a glass of water, but that didn't do anything. I tried getting another sleeping pill, but I couldn't do that.

I've read through the thread and haven't been able to decode any of the (very subtle) hints.

So what do you have to do to get the gun from the beggar without giving him the coin?

Hm, those three items should do the trick. But since TLH has many bugs, it will possibly only work, when you have talked with the beggar about the revolver. Then give the pillow, the apple and the stew to the beggar.

Okay, made it to the end.  Have the silver coin... What am I missing?  I how do I get the third ending?
