radiant 's kings quest 3 help needed

IN radiants version of kings quest 3 how do I get past
mahanana when he offers the potion and forces me to drink it .I get killed everytime i try to escape

You're not supposed to escape. After all, he could just teleport after you, right? So you're supposed to fool him into thinking you've drunk the potion. Now how would you do that...
