im trying to work out how to make myself 'lighter' to get across the ice to the island ? I also want to know whats going on with the Yetti in the hot water.....i presume you have to somehow get the water that the dragon keeps flying over and breathing on, but how ?

I went to the dragon and used by wand on him to get rid of his wings, but he then turned me to black fire. However, when i then carried on playing and created myself some longjohns, (not needed to kill the dragon,) and got a bucket of water that turned to ice (not needed to kill the dragon, this time when i used my wand on the dragon, he didn't use black fire on me and allowed me to blow the horn and finish the game! Very good game though.

I read in the completed games forum that you may not have gotten the blood for the cauldron.   I was able to get it if you are curious. 

The game ended for me in similar sequence as you stated.

I have gotten rid of the gnome, I got my sweet yeti long-jons on, but i really need that wand. I assumed that I had to put the three ingredients in the cauldron first but I do not know where to get the blood-I have the feather and the worm-also, Maybe this is a bug-when i put in the worm or feather they dont disappear from inventory so I put a third item in (i.e the worm again) and the cauldron makes a noise and boils but then the game freezes...oy, help...please

i did have no problems with the ingredients in the cauldron she unfreeze and she give me a wand ?
And please tell me what i must do with the gnome i can't find a way to get him tell what to do and no hints please i don't understand all the hints :(

On the screen where the apple on the stick was (with the tree that is/was bent over and throws a knife at you when you try to take the apple). Use a snowball (which you get by using the hand on the ground) with that tree and a little scene will ensue

same thing happened to me, when I went to island to put stuff in cauldron the enchantress was already unfrozen but I couldn't talk to her, so I put the 3 items in the cauldron anyway and the hourglass timer came on, cauldron glowed and game froze there. When I tried it again, this time the enchantress was frozen and when I used the 3 items she unfroze and I was able to get the wand

Hmmmmm.   This is definitely a bug.  It's weird that only a few people would experience the problem...  I'll look into it.  Can you tell me when you downloaded the game (i.e. before or after about 9pm Eastern Standard Time on November 7)?

I downloaded yesterday 7th November, I can't remember exactly what time it was though but it was after you had posted in completed games that you had fixed bugs and you had said it was effective from 9:15pm EST.
Great game by the way, I did complete it.

I downloaded the game the first day you uploaded it...maybe two or three days ago? Anyway, once i restarted and played through again I did not have this problem. Also, the first time I played it the vulture was dead on the apple screen before I killed it, but again once I played it again this did not occur. Anyway, it was a great game despite these little bugs and I really loved the little animations! Good job! ;D

After you throw hot water at vulture and he flys away, if you walk right, I'm not exactly sure to which screen but the vulture should be lying there dead and you should be able to get a feather

I never did kill the bird. When I got to the apple scene, the vulture was already dead. I finished the game anyways. ;D

I do not know what I have to give to the snowman in order to get my longjohns, I have already gave the comb to the mole fix his machine.

Give him the apple......and talk to him (as long as you have gotten rid of the imp)  He will give you something to make longjohns with.

Theres a bug, so if you dont want to get the dragons blood, you can just put 2 feathers in the couldron instead of 1, and that will work too. Thats what i did.

did you see the fruit on the stick yet?  If you try to get it by hand, the imp will kill you with a knife......Think of another way to get it with something you have in your inventory and you will get the imps knife.

Okay, I feel really dumb, but my bucket of water is frozen by the time I get to my house, I tried filling the flask, thinking it would be insulated..I tried filling horn at the pool.  so what's my problem, I need to keep water hot.  Help, Thanks,  J.C.

if you walk to the left your bucket of water should stay hot, you will see the vulture sitting on a tree, use bucket of water on vulture and he should fly off and you will find him in dead in another screen and you will be able to get feather

It sounds like you have to find the hermit in order to be able to teach the gnome a lesson, yet you need the knife from the gnome in order to be able to find the hermit.  I've tried using the snowball on the tree, but that doesn't do anything, so I'm assuming I need to find the hermit first. Help!

  Shoot the fruit down from the pole with bow and arrow.  Bent tree will lunge a knife that you can pick up.    Sasquatch also has a knife that you can "remove" from him

The only thing I don't have for the cauldron is the worm people have talked about.  Hopefully it wasn't in the apple, because I have already given it away.  I have been to the island and have put the blood and feather in the pot - the lady is unfrozen (sort of speak), but I can't get her to give me the wand.  I have the longjohns on and the dragon cannot kill me, but I don't have anything to kill him.  How do I unfreeze the lady, or will that happen when I get a worm.  I have tried killing the vulture again hoping to get another feather, but no luck.  Is there another feather laying the the snow someplace (not on the bird)?  Thank you.

Thanks Joyce, that's exactly where it was.  Went to the cauldron, dropped it in and like others, my computer froze.  It was still snowing, the boat could move, but nothing else.  Will have to go back and see what others have done.

I went back to my second to the last save. Ã, Got the blood and the worm (had already put the feather in the cauldron) and put them in the cauldron - still froze up on me. Ã, Am I almost done? Ã, Hope someone can help.

      A similar error was occuring back in November when the game was first released.  Do I understand correctly that:

The flame around the witch is gone, but it is still impossible to interact with her?  And that eventually when you try to free her the game freezes?

      The first thing I can think of is that you might have acquired the old version of the game -i.e. before these problems were fixed.  If you look at the twr_readme file that came in the game folder you downloaded and look at the very bottom under "credits" see if Scorpiorus and his snow-rain plug-in are listed.  I missed him out in the old version of the game, but I believe he is only listed in the most recent version.  Another way you can tell it's the most recent version is that the Hermit's dialogue cycles instead of being random.  If you think you're playing an old version I'm afraid you're going to have to get the most recent version from either  http://www.vanwijst.com/games  (http://www.vanwijst.com/games) or from the games page on AGS (I think it's on page 9 still).  Also in that event, please post or PM me to identify where you got this version from -I think Hajo is distributing all the games that are nominated for AGS awards, so perhaps he's got an older version?
      If you ARE playing with the most recent version PLEASE tell me asap and I'll go looking for the bug.  No one's experienced this for a long while so it might be something very obscure....
      Finally, I'm very sorry this problem has interrupted your gaming experience.  It usually runs quite smoothly -honest!

I dowloaded your game at GameBoomers where you can find "free games."  I will go back and see if I have the read me file and see if Scorpiorus and/or snow-rain is there.  If it is an older version, I'll click on the website you suggested and go from there.

Went to the read me file and it said that Snow-Rain Plug In was created by Scorpious (or something like that).  Don't know if this will help or not, but when I finally killed the bird and took a feather, I went back to where I had killed him and there he was again and again (I went back 2 more times after killing it).  So, what's my next step?

Well, I tried to duplicate your problem and I was able to get the Vulture back to life.  I think I know what the problem is, but all the game files are on my computer at home so it will have to wait for the weekend for me to fix it.  It really shouldn't affect the rest of the game if you just ignore the fact that the bird is still alive, but killing him over and over again "might" lead to the game crashing.  I hesitate to suggest that you try the game again but if you do here's what you need to do after you get to the witch:

You put the dragon's blood, the worm and the feather into the cauldron and then talk to the witch.  She'll give you a wand and with that, the gnome's horn and the longjohns you can fight the dragon.

Well, Baron, I have already done what your spoiler suggested, but went back to try it again.  When I use the "hand" on the lady it says, "The rock resists your attempt to budge it.  When I click on the lady to talk it says, "Rock is unresponsive, or the island is unresponsive."  If I click on the girl with the talk mode, she says, "What shall I talk about."  I clicked on the lady with the "eye" and it said that the Vixen in the black cape is you."  She was standing behind the lady.  It's almost like nothing is recognizing the woman standing with the wand in her hand.  I'll have to wait until you get to your computer to help me again.  Thanks.

Yes the bug only seems to occur under special circumstances but the fact that it can recurr at all is most vexing.  There's only so many times that a game author can play through a game to debug it before he goes cRaZy, so after error reports stop coming in one just sort of assumes the game to be bug free.  However, since I have been informed otherwise I will get on this immediately when I get home.  Thanks to everyone for identifying the errors,

I went back to the game wondering if I had missed something.  Thought I had read that the lady was to give me the wand and horn, but I went back to the gnome and he gave me the horn and then vanished.  I went back to the lady but there is still no response from her.  No matter where I click on her, it just talks about the rocks and the sea - it's as if she doesn't exist.  Do you think I have missed anything else?  I tried the horn on the dragon, he fell off the cliff, but came back and sat on the girl.  Ouch!!!!  Hopefully BaRoN you'll have something for me to finish this game.

Alright it took me two hours and I was just about ready to quit after trying one last thing but I was FINALY able to duplicate your Enchantress freeze bug!Ã,  It turns out it was a bit of ghost code left over from when the flame that imprisons the Enchantress was the same one that the Dragon shot at you when you face him.Ã,  I guess not many people survived the Dragon flame before they freed the Enchantress, and so the bug wasn't spotted or reported.Ã,  Anyway, there is now an updated version ready for download on the games page here or at www.vanwijst.com/games.Ã,  It fixes this bug and the "plot inconsistency" of the Vulture Resurrection.

The version you have SHOULD still work as long as you don't face the dragon wearing your longjohns BEFORE you free the Enchantress.Ã,  Unfortunately you're going to have to start from scratch either way since there is no way to fix the bug remotely.Ã,  Sorry!Ã,  And thanks for reporting the bug -at least future players won't suffer the same frustrations.Ã,  Thanks!

BaRoN, I have uninstalled the winter rose I was working on and have reinstalled it, and have begun again.  Hope I can remember all the things I did before to get to where I was towards the end.  Thank you for all your hard work.

At long last, I finished the game.  The only problem I had with was to remember which three things needed to be put into the cauldron.  Came back to the hints site and found out the third thing was the blood.  BaRoN if you hadn't fixed those bugs I would never have been able to slay that dragon.  Thanks again ;D

I still can't get the dragons blood. I can't light the candle near the pikeman and I can't get a second feather to place in to the cauldren. What am I supposed to do now????

Go to right screen to a boat. In the hole, take a flask. Come back and click flask on yeti

I finished it, it's lovely little game. I downloaded the walkthrough, but with some perseverance, I didn't need to read it. I did walk around in circles for a while, looking for the Hermit, but then I thought, where do hermits like to live. ::)

It helped being given the choice of retrying from where you die, that is a brilliant move on the writers part, and I love Vivaldi's music  :D :D :D
