Trouble with sound in Apprentice 1 & 2

Hello fellow adventurers!
I have a little problem in Apprentice 1 & 2
Both games have speech, as far as i know, but the only problem is, i don't hear any voices. Sound effects are no problem, only speech.
Does anyone know what this could be?

Wrong forum, but check the sound options in the winsetup.exe...

Oops..sorry.
Well i looked there, but it says "default direct-sound device"
Setting it to "default waveout device" does nothing.
I hear the squicking shoes and everything, but no speech

I only know Apprentice 2 and (unless I have the same problem as you but didn't notice it) there is no speech ...
However, I heard of a deluxe edition of Apprentice 1 that will have speech.

I have a similar problem but i can hear pib and all the other characters speak, but not the wizard/master guy
