Can anyone give me any tips on how to beat the guard in the swordfight?
I use the spacebar and b, but lose all the time
any hints?

hm, it takes some training.
As I recall it, you can "cheat" by walking along the very lower edge of the screen. Start already by the stairs and walk there until you have passed him with a good margin. Do the same on the way back. That will omit the fight scene.
