I've found the online walkthrough but there are still a couple of things that I don't quite get...

It says that when you come back across the bridge after talking to the Door of Destiny, that you should pick up the paper on the ground. I don't see any paper there.

I haven't found Possum's basket... is this in a particular place, or does it show up somewhere randomly?

The piece of paper isn't necessary to progress in the game (It's an advertisement for the merchant)

Possum's basket is in a random place in the forest somewhere. It will only show up after talking to Possum though.

Will the basket only show up after I have done something (other than talk to Possum), because I can't seem to find it anywhere in the forest?

Is it hidden in a bush or under a rock or log, or is it lying around in plain view?

Where can I find a yellow flower or plant to use in the spell in the cave on the plateau? There doesn't seem to be one around. Should I have got one before now? Going back to an earlier game and looking round the forest, I can't see one anywhere.

As far as I remember: When you give the basket to the girl, she will give you a flower.

The basket was not in clear view, but when I met the girl, I clicked around in the bushes and on the trees and finally found it on the same screen. I don't know if the basket could be in a neighbouring screen, but I think it can't be too far away from that meadow at the coast.

I found the basket on one of the beach screens in the end, and it was only partially hidden.
