Today died the second of my favourite painters, H.R. Giger. Now all of them are dead. :-[ The first one was Zbigniew BeksiŠ„ski who, like Giger, also died tragically (he was murdered).

Giger's dead???.... Oh man, like you, I loved his art. And like you, I adored Beksinski (though I knew about his death for a long time now; what a way to go...)

I should really play Darkseed 2 sometimes, if only in his memory.

I bet Tim Curry was stoked to have his name misspelled on the box too...

Oh yessss...

Those copywriters now float...They ALL float...They all FLOAT...

And when you're down there...with them:

YOU'LL FLOAT TOO!!!

Quote from: Monsieur OUXXThis is where I should post my original "Cruise for a Corpse" box if I weren't so lazy.
Sorry, it's in English! :)

EXHIBIT #21: CRUISE FOR A CORPSE (1991)

Front and back cover:

Character size has been doubled since Operation Stealth?? WOW! Double the fun!

What's inside the box: five 3.5" disks, manual, Characters Book, US Gold catalog, ship map and a copy protection wheel.

Characters Book describes the events before the dreadful cruise.

They sure liked wheel copy protections back in the 90s.

Maps! More maps! :) This one describes who stays where, pretty useful stuff. That ship seemed like a maze when I played the game for the first time.

All those little technical touches. Neat!

Esseb

Damn, that looks neat.

Are the maps and newspaper clippings required when playing or just for show?

It varies. Sometimes you need those extra goodies to pass copy protection and sometimes it's just for immersion and need to justify the money you spent on the game. :)

Ben X

I assume Esseb means specifically for this game...

The only thing I remember about CFAC, having never played it, is that it had one of those moments where the character walks straight into camera and then it seamlessly cuts to them walking out of and away from camera (which was a very showy, cinematic thing back then, typical of Delphine).

I keep being baffled by how Sierra was omnipresent in the videogames market, and yet they eventually collapsed. How did they not end up being Valve?

My box looks different, it has the dead body outline on a black background, looking just like what you see in the intro

Being sold for $1.06 billion in stock doesn't really equals 'collapsed' I think...
