Hi,

Im having trouble with MS DOS based games with windows XP. I've downloaded a few games from this site and they seem to be made to be used with DOS.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem or if there is any Adventure games that dont use DOS?

regards

p.s sorry if i've posted on the wrong board  ;D

Do you have AGS?  ;D ;)

no. Do i need it for the games to work? Its not just a problem with AGS games. Its a problem with all MS DOS based games.

MrColossal

have you tried DosBox or VDMSound?

they usually get programs working alright for me

Hey, welcome to AGS :D

Okay, firstly, what games are they exactly? For most LucasArts old games you can use ScummVM to run them. I think I once used ScummVM to run Commander Keen, but I'm not entirely sure.

Also, I think you can download MS DOS emulators or something for old games, but again I'm not very sure.

You can try running them in compatability mode by right-clicking and selecting properties. Try messing about with them for a while and usually you'll get something working.

i've tried the compatability thing before and had no success. I recently re-bought DOTT and S&M in a double pack (lucas arts as u mentioned) and i cant play them. There is games like Death Rally and Commander Keen included as games ive tried.

It doesnt matter who makes the games it doesnt work. This command promt thing is useless!!!

Whats this ScummVM program all about? Do you know where i can get it?

cheers

I also have the DOTT and S&M games, they run fine for me using ScummVM - http://www.scummvm.org

have you any idea which thing i have to download from the site? im knew to this kind of thing  ;)

This is the exact download you need:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scummvm/scummvm-0.5.1-win32.exe?download

You'll also need the DOTT/S&M cd in the drive, since ScummVM is just an interpreter, not the actual games.
