Hi Gang,

Hope everybody is well  ;D

-- UPDATE 29-07-07 --

<Cough>

So, um, Mittens 2007 was great...

Before I start a new thread for the third and probably final Annual, which obviously didn't come out this year (Apologies to those Brittens / Mittens 07 attendees who only came for the freebies  ;)) I remembered that I still had some unfinished business from last year, and having just found the box of Annuals, I thought I should act on this before too much more time passes.

The Winner of the 'Design a Cover' competition was Limping Fish.  I'll drop you a pm in case you don't see this, but if you want to pm me your address I'll send you out a copy of Volume 1, and Volume 2 which has been 'signed' by CJ.

In the end, I also used an image supplied by 2ma2, so again blah blah pm blah address, I'll send you a copy of Volume 2.

The following attendees are still entitled to a copy of the Annual:

M0Ds
Magintz
- Scotch
Layabout
- Adam & Becky
- CJ
AGA
- Annie (OneThinkingGal and ._.)
- Creed Malay (Davy Malay)
- Dave Gilbert
- Hajo
- Jake (Hotspot)
- Privateer Puddin' (custard)
- spleen (Iqu)
- YicklePigeon

And that should be it for the 2006 annual!

-- UPDATE 10-08-06 --

Ok, so tonight is the deadline for anyone who wants to send in a cover for this year's Annual.  I'll announce the winner at Mittens and organise sending the prizes out when I get back.

To save on space in my luggage I will probably bring the discs out in slim CD cases, and then supply printed DVD covers for people to take back sandwiched between their notebooks / magazines / porn etc.

This appears to be the final breakdown on attendees:

- M0Ds
- Magintz
- Petteri
- Chrille
- Grundislav
- Scotch
- Quintaros
- Radiant
- Layabout
- Farlander & Lorena
- Adam & Becky
- Goldmund & Dominika
- CJ
- Helm
- Mattgoble
- Sinitrena
- Disco
- AGA

Which I make to be 18 (21 if the couples want 1 each  ;)) - So 25 copies should cover you guys!

- Annie (OneThinkingGal and ._.)
- Creed Malay (Davy Malay)
- Dave Gilbert
- Hajo
- Jake (Hotspot)
- Privateer Puddin' (custard)
- spleen (Iqu)
- YicklePigeon

And 8 attendees to Brittens who won't be in Spain.  Guys & Gals, if you want to PM me your snail mail address I will drop a copy in the post when I get back.

-- UPDATE 09-07-06 --

So the games are coming in thick and fast - many thanks to everyone who has offered the projects up, or said 'yes' when asked!

This year's annual will very quickly fill a CD-R, so I was wondering whether people had a preference to either a DVD-R or multiple CD-Rs?

-- UPDATE 04-07-06 --

OK Guys, there is still time to send me details about your games, music, photos, plugins, modules, whatevers to be included in this year's annual.

As an extra 'thing', I would like one of you talented individuals to design the front for this year's DVD Cover.  (Mods - didn't know whether this should be also posted in competitions & activities?)

The back of the case will included a list of the content of the disc, while the spine will match last year's annual, so entries should be limited to the front, which has a dimension of:

1536x2175 pixels (wxh)

Also, due to the constraints of bringing these discs to Mittens, I might package the discs up in normal CD-Jewel cases and include the DVD Cover artwork on the disc - it all depends on how many copies I need to bring (more on that later).  If this is the case, I can scale & crop the winning artwork down for these cases, although please feel free to also enter a design based around a 12cm square at 300dpi.

Remeber, the main aim is for the DVD Cover artwork, NOT the CD Sleeve

Entries should be supplied as either TIFFs, PNGs or JPEGs (the less compression the better), and emailed to me:

mattgoble is my username, gmail is my account.  Hope that makes sense  ;)

Below is a link to last year's artwork (Not the greatest, I know, but a last minute, late night attempt by yours truly)

What does the winner get?

Whether the 'winner' is coming to either Brittens or Mittens or not, I will send them a final copy of the annual, along with any other 'goodies' I can think of.

-- END OF UPDATE --

I thought I should start this year's submissions for the AGS Annual a little earlier, considering how disorganised I was this year...

For those of you who are wondering what I am talking about, can visit this topic:

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=20863.0

The deadline for submissions will be a couple of weeks before Mittens, or Brittens or whichever 2006 gathering comes first!

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me via PM with submissions and suggestions - I will do my best to contact as many of you as possible, but please don't wait for me as I do have a tendancy to miss out on some of the most obvious games!

All the best

Includedness "Alien Time Zone"! The link is in my signature.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Matt Goble

As M0Ds & Radiant have bumped the Volume 1 topic, now is probably a good time to bump the Volume 2 topic  ;)

A reminder that I am now collecting submissions for this years annual to be handed out at Mittens / Wittens 2006.

Please contact me via either email or pm.  Links to the official topics can always be found in my signature.

I will do my best to contact people regarding their games & contributions to the community, but I have been known to miss the obvious, so if you want to be safe, contact me yerself!

In the next couple of days / weeks / months there will be a topic in the competition thread regarding the design for the front cover, so keep you designer-eyes peeled.

Kinoko

Even though it's quite old, I would vainly like to submit Cirque ^_^

I feel sad I didn't contribute any new games last year :/ Perhaps this year...

OK Guys, there is still time to send me details about your games, music, photos, plugins, modules, whatevers to be included in this year's annual.

Plz add Quest Fighter to the Annual, thankyou.

m0ds

Matt, although I don't really care - I just want you to know I like your design :)

Matt Goble

@M0Ds & Mortal Wombat - Cheers for the submissions guys!

@Hajo - See I thought '/' meant an AGS couple, not a split personality  ;) ;D

Matt, although I don't really care - I just want you to know I like your design :)

Last year's cover was knocked together about midnight a couple of days before Brittens, and I figure It would be quite nice to have quite unique covers each year, a bit like those posh design mags you see in WHSmith.  Of course this will just be the front cover - the spines of the Annuals will match up!!

Ubel

If there's still room I'd like to submit the best game ever made.

The Secret of Hamster Island. Which you can find here.

CD!

Well, unless you have over 700mb of stuff to put on it, then I guess...

DVD!

DVD!

Well I'm glad we cleared that up!

I know Layabout doesn't have a DVD drive (or didn't at Brittens last year), I just want to feel the temperature of the rest of you guys - I know we 'do' retro but c'mon DVD is almost retro now!

Maybe next year's will be on Blu-Ray!

Radiant

Cartridge!
DAT tape!
Laserdisc!

I don't even have a cd drive (plastic slabs of data? But I have the internet!), but the AGS Annuals as much of a collector's thing as anything, so I don't mind what format it comes in.

AGA

Yeah, I think I already had all the AGS Annual 1 content on my hard drive, but it's cool to have a solid collectable thing to keep.

AGA & Scotch have archived the Internet, should it crash one of these days  ;)

Next year, my challenge will be to include something you guys don't have (I will be taking suggestions at this year's Mittens, the only limitation being it must be something to go on an optical disc, and that I can smuggle thorugh customs  := )

I think a DVD might be nice, seeing as its just as common a format as CD now.

And...ummm...nothing else.

DVD is looking like a good option - I'll hang off and see how many megs the final folders work out at - if it's only 1.4 gigs, I might as well do a couple of CDs.

Just an FYI - I do intend to IM / Email people with a thankyou for their contributions, I'm just snowed under with the downloading side at present (just as well I'm moving off Pipex at the end of the month, their AUP might have something to say about this!!)

Somewhat to my surprise, the people at www.archive.org actually do archive the internet, having accumulated several petabytes of data so far and growing rapidly.

Bah! Amateurs compared with Scotch & AGA, although I do believe archive.org does hold a copy of the Adventures of Fatman!

scotch

So does the AGS Archive!

Which incidentally could pad out the rest of a dvd if you've got a lot of space free, I doubt anyone would mind about their stuff getting put on the annual.

Ionas did give me the thumbs up last year, but unfortunately I had already made the discs.

So far no-one has said no (touch wood), so depending how things go I may be in touch for some 'suggestions' as to how to fill out the disc.

Matt Goble

Right, I've got a huge list of people I need to drop pms to (not THAT pms obviously), and I will get around to it I promise.

Everything is a bit of a mess at present so I think it's going to be a mad rush to the finish like last year.

Picking up from Scotch's point, so far, no one has ever said no to their stuff being included on either Annual, so from here on in, I might just grab everything and obviously credit everyone.

IF YOU DO NOT WISH FOR YOUR GAMES / PHOTOS / VIDEOS / PLUG-INS / MODULES / FIRSTBORN TO BE INCLUDED, PM ME, COS IF IT CATCHES MY EYE, IT'S GOING IN!!

Sure thing Disco,  the reason you weren't on the list was I thought I had given copies to all non-english antendee's (and sleeves).  If you didn't get a disc, but you've got a sleeve, drop me a pm with your address and I'll send you out a copy.

Layabout

I got mine about a week ago. Cheers.
