Hi adventurers,

I wanted to present you a new project of a point & click graphic adventure that is currently being developed in Spain. The adventure is called The Adventures of The Black Hawk. The story takes place in the south of France, during the French Revolution, where our protagonist, an unfortunate aristocrat who leads a double life, tries to help behind his mask the lower class with the help of his privileged social position.

The project started in April of last year and soon we will launch the web, in classic style too. We are trying to recall the graphic adventures of the 80s and early 90s that amused us so much trying to be true to his style in every way. This is a third person point & click adventure with a resolution of 320x200px using its famous 9-verb interface.

What do we offer you?
We assure you, a graphic style based on LucasArts with totally original backgrounds and characters, own soundtrack appropriate to the style, fun, humor with a lot of irony, bizarre situations and sword fights in the style of Indiana Jones games.

Here our website where you can find more information about our adventure! We hope you like it!

Enjoy it!!  :)

Frodo

Looks fantastic.  Looking forward to playing it.   :cheesy:

CaptainD

Oh wow I love your game already!!!  Looks exactly like my sort of game.  ;-D  That first screenshot is a thing of beauty.

All the best with development.

InCreator

Looks absolutely fantastic! Can't wait!

croquetasesina

Thank you very much!! I am sure that if you like these images you will love the game. Both the graphics and the gameplay will remind you of Lucasarts in many ways. And there will be easter eggs ...;)

Yanek_Crispbread

This looks fantastic, I will keep my eye on this :)
Correlation is not causation.

ToeKnee

This looks great and game play like Lucasarts will be great to re-live the dream! Seem like this is nearly done so keep at it and broadcast when done so we can try it out... (unless you need testers!)
Cheers,
Tony
If it’s not broken, let’s fix it till it is...!

BarbWire

I absolutely Love, love, love (not enthusing too much am I ?) the look and feel
of this game and can't wait to play it. I have had a look at the trailer and it
doesn't disappoint. You can't beat the Retro games.

Well done Croquetasesina. Keep up the good work.

croquetasesina

Wow!! What a surprise, I didn’t know if such a retro game would have such a good reception. I’m really glad! I will keep you informed of new developments ;) Thank you for being attentive and comment.

Monsieur OUXX

You go get them tiger! I predict this game will be super fun.

SarahLiz

You can't go wrong with a LucasArts-esque game, ever!  So excited to see & play once it's completed!!!

Thank you very much, with your collaboration it could not be otherwise!! We hope it will end up being a great game to remember many years ahead. You’ve done a BRILLIANT job!

croquetasesina

We have a new video on our social networks where you can see one of the adventure background.

croquetasesina

The French composer Jessca Fichot, trained at the Berklee College of Music, has composed a version of the main theme of our adventure for the music of the final credits of The Adventures of The Black Hawk. Both the original lyrics and the arrangement of the main theme are his, with a style close to that of the traditional songs of France of the eighteenth century. ¡ We hope you like it!

Oh i adore Jessica's music! Hung out with her at GDC a few years ago. Super cool person.

Ok, the background and character graphics look very nice, the music is formidable, but you should work over the walking animation of the hero a little bit, because it looks more like he is gliding over the ground in goose step.
I did a quick search for a video tutorial and found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QTCwiJUmmo which seems not too bad.

croquetasesina

We appreciate your input, but the way he walks is something we had already changed ;) We just haven’t uploaded any video with the new animation

croquetasesina

Updated social networks! We continue with great advances

newwaveburritos

Holy smokes this game looks legit.  Watching with great interest.

newwaveburritos

I was just thinking about this game the other day so it's great to hear that progress is being made.  Keep up the good work!  I really dig the new screenshot.

Creamy

Nice graphics. I was surprised to hear a french theme song. Before reading the presentation, I assumed the hero was spanish since he looks a bit like Zorro and the game is developed in Spain.

Nice graphics. I was surprised to hear a french theme song. Before reading the presentation, I assumed the hero was spanish since he looks a bit like Zorro and the game is developed in Spain.

This is remotely inspired by "The black tulip" which was written by Alexandre Dumas (same as the 3 musketeers and Count of Monte Christo). Even though not massively famous, the original story and its character still had some success in Western Europe, there was a movie with Alain Delon and so on. Hence the French/Spanish vibe : The movie was mostly a French production but it's one of those things that are in the collective pop culture of non-English Europe. So much so that a Spanish team decided to make a game out of it.
And yes, he's like a French Zorro (preceding Zorro's creation by 70 years  ;) ). You could also say he's like a French Scarlett Pimpernel (except the Scarlett Pimpernel is ultra-royalist bullshit  :P ).

In conclusion : This is a very cool project inspired by an underrated main adventure character. And they changed it enough to make it their own. Win-win!  ;-D

croquetasesina

Thank you very much for your words and explanation, Monsieur OUXX. It is just as Monsieur OUXX has said, who I know knows very well the movie and the book.

Darth Mandarb

We (the moderators) are having a discussion about this very thing (using social media links as updates rather than post the update here).

For the time being, while not [yet] required by the rules, it would be helpful if you could post the update to this thread (just edit your last post) so those of us who refuse/don't use Twitter (et al) can still see/follow the game's development?

Thanks!

croquetasesina

A little Christmas promo!

On behalf of the entire team at The Adventures of The Black Hawk, Merry Christmas!

I’d like to show you a little preview of what’s coming...

SarahLiz

Looks amazing!  I can't wait--do you guys have a release date yet?  (Sorry, I don't use twitter or instagram, etc., so this is where I'm following your updates...)

croquetasesina

No!! Excuse me here, I thought it was more common than I imagined using social networks. I post you a little bit more here as previews of some scenes from the game.

No doubt the release date will be 2022;) Exact date I can’t tell you yet.

Unfinished sketch (already background finished! hehe)

Home, sweet home

Monsieur OUXX

I'm very excited by this game.
All the visuals and music are super tasteful yet not over-the-top, one can clearly sense the artistic sensitivity in this project. A real vibe of Monkey Island 1 -- except in VGA and with less shoehorned spoofs ;)

Thank you very much for your words. It is a pleasure to read such things and such comparisons do us honour.
This afternoon I will share more content about the game, big surprises are coming :)

How exciting it is to do our first tests with the game box!!

EnnarGames

This looks beautiful! Can’t wait to give it a run
“Art is an object riddled with sharp edges that can cut you.  You can pound all those edges away and make it smooth and make it safe, but what you’re left with is just a shapeless blob.  It’s safe and it’s smooth, but it’s uninteresting.” Ron Gilbert

We are pleased to present our trailer

CaptainD

I'm getting an error message when trying to play this video, not sure about anyone else?   :(

Yes, me too. I had to choose reply with quotes, then copy the youtube url manually.

Edit: The link is https://youtu.be/B1RJuF0zr2U

The video looks so good! This will be a lot of fun, I'm sure of it!

croquetasesina

I don't quite understand what is causing the playback error, the video and the URL are correctly set :/

In the new forums, embedded YouTube videos should not be the whole URL, but only the YouTube ID (the alphanumeric string at the end). I've edited your post to fix it.

We show you a short video with our main theme!

And we encourage you to support our Kickstarter campaign, we need to reach 20k to translate the game!

KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

Matti

I love the LucasArts-vibes of this game  :)
Good luck with the kickstarter campaign!

croquetasesina

Thank you very much, it's a long way to go! But we will do our best to make it happen!

croquetasesina

Here are some of the rewards we are offering with the Kickstarter campaign!!
Come and take part!

croquetasesina

We have secured the funding, but we still have a long way to go!

croquetasesina

From the team of Las Aventuras de El Halcón Negro, we wanted to start by wishing you a happy holiday season. Christmas is still some time away, but our protagonist has already sent his letter to make sure all his wishes come true.

Although I can tell you that one of ours has already been fulfilled. Just yesterday we announced the recent addition of what we consider to be one of the best pixelart artists and more specifically in the style of LucasArts adventures. Misja van Laatum has joined our team and is already working on a scenario, which I can tell you is going to be a real marvel.

I will keep you posted.

croquetasesina

We continue to work hard on every aspect of the game. While we are raising money for funding, we have redesigned our website:

We encourage you through our ko-fi to help us to get the English localization, which for us is key for the release of the game.

Here is the link to ko-fi, in case you want to help us. Any help is welcome.

;)  ;)  ;)

croquetasesina

Some of our most important dialogues will feature close-ups. Would you like to see the design process?

Don't forget our ko-fi campaign for English localisation, please help!

croquetasesina

I'd like to show you a little preview. Our adventure will feature close-ups in some of the most important dialogues of the story. It will be a way to differentiate the main characters from the secondary ones, following the style of The Secret of Monkey Island.

We're slowly making progress on the funding for professional translation into English. Would you like to lend us a hand? It's the only thing we need to publish the game.

Help us with a ko-fi (or more!  )  (roll)

SarahLiz

Happy to contribute.  As I said before, I love the look of this game and can't wait to play it--in English!   :-D

Mark1024

Hi.
This game looks great!
I am looking at making a game myself, but I just want to ask, which program do you make your graphics in because they look great 👍
Cheers.
Mark.

Most of the graphics are made with Deluxe Paint ;)

newwaveburritos

Holy Cow Deluxe Paint lol.  How do you find the workflow?  Is there an advantage to using it?  I only know of it as kind of a relic to be honest.

croquetasesina

Hello friends!

Today I bring you the Steam page of the game.

The localization of the game is very advanced and everything points to the fact that the game will be released very soon. I encourage you to follow us on Steam and add it to your Steam Wishlist if you are interested!
