Last year for Drama that book was one of the options for stimulus. Everyone had a read through it but only 2 did it, it was a really good book, but outside of those pages it's hard to convey it :)

Each year in Geelong there is a competition called 24 hour shootout, where we get 24 hours to make a film under 7 minutes, and include a bunch of things off a list as well, like lines or locations. So this year we though we'd do a retrospective of a made up director so we could spoof a few genres and have some fun. I just wanted to share it with you all and I hope you all enjoy it, we were only allowed in camera editing and had to overdub any sound in one quick sitting. So here it is: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JfVge_NSgAo
I'm not too fussed with crits, we were really under the pump for this thing, so faults are to be expected, I just thought you all might enjoy it :)

Oh and if you are interested, Nolan Santiago has his own facebook  := A lot of effort went into it.

I did just however, realize I have this still from an outtake in a short film I did.

I hate you all... because I have pissy facial hair, and even if it was thicker it would still be blonde, and that just never looks right.

And here I was hoping for another 7-11 Elvis sighting, but alas.

But great work Lance. Rather aged for a sports star, not that 37 is old in regular people terms, it would be an immense effort for him to pull out a big win. But here's hoping huh?

LittleBigPlanet has me giddy with anticipation. Fallout 3 as well. Plus InFamous and Prototype because superheros kick arse.

Well to me it reads that they want to get younger people in, thinking they need them to make up the sales for this video-game film. Kids like games and action films. So they seem to be heading for this demographic rather than the more mature audience that the film should deserve. It needs it's deep character issues and thick adult plot to retain all that makes it Max Payne, yet that seems to be dissipating in favor of a more shoot em up constant action film.
I still hope that I'm not right and this will be a great film, but it isn't much hope.

I'm positively in love with Alice in Wonderland and this game was pure brilliance. Well done Ivy.

Thomas Jane could pass as a resemblance for older Max Payne. I think he's a good actor, he's just in a lot of shit films.

Well I'm gonna thank everyone that thanked me. In a rather belated fashion, so I suggest this holiday takes up the week.

ProgZMax, a man who has recommended so many good and good-bad films to me over the years, as well as good talks and shared cynicism about the world :D

Vince for letting me bounce a bagillion ideas off him that I never follow through, and just for good chats. And also for letting me beta Resonance rooms.

Paco Gonzalez, for not getting aggrivated that I continue to shorten his name for the sake of brevity and my own entertainment. As well as for casting me in two Ben Jordan games. And for many a good yarn.

And of course Victor, what a lovely chap. Constantly chatting away to each other and constantly planning trips to the others country we're both to broke to afford.

Everyone I talk to in IRC, sorry to lump you all together but if I type you all out it'd suck. So you all get this instead  :=

Spoiler
When you are stuck behind the door, if you have taken the keys you can use them on the door to unlock it, then use the door to go back inside, you'll walk back in, and Bianchi will move back out of the doorway as well, at which point you can leave with ease

I totally get behind what DazJ is saying. I broke up with my first real girlfriend when I was.... 16, and I thought that no one understood how I was feeling, and I felt like shite for a while, but it does pass. That's just breaking up, and at a young age where you haven't dealt with it before and don't know how to cope properly in that situation, it's especially hard.
And yeah, teen relationships are notorious for not working, for silly reasons, good reasons or even no reasons. That's just being a teen.
I mean, I'm only turning 19 this year, so I'm no wise ole sage. But I'm more equipped to deal with a break up now than I was then.

Monsieur Rolfe is capable of finding his own errors, and whilst I'm sure he'll feel great about criticising the errors in perspective here he'd certainly enjoy it more if left to discover them himself.

Actually he's opened it to the fans, so you can write the words coming out of his mouth. So while I would agree that Mr Rolfe is quite capable.... and hilarious, this time it's actually ok for fans to send him a ridiculous amount of stuff.

I watched all that last night after being linked in the news section of Penny Arcade. Man Joss Whedon rules, and everyone else involved. I'll buy this when it's DVDerized. I think Fillion got some of the best laughs.

Saying "We can't do it... It's unlikely they can do it" is logical. It is a statement based on the observation of the only tecnological society we can examine.
...
Maybe a tecnological society is not so common as we think.
But you've just said exactly what I'm saying Nacho. What we assume of another race is based purely on knowledge of our own world. It is logical to make assumptions within our world, based on our world, but to assume that a planet in a far away galaxy can't do something based on what we know of ourselves is illogical. It's galactic apples and oranges!
Also, there are some societies on this planet which are not technological, so it's entirely likely that an alien race is not as technological as us, I said that myself. I'm more talking about the biological side of things here rather than the technological.
When people say that life couldn't exist on other planets, because we haven't found one like Earth, and it's our unique planet that supports life, it seems rather silly because to say that to be recognized as life, a species must be like us, is rather arrogant.
It's like saying Hamsters can't survive in an aquarium. This is obviously true. But in that aquarium, which is vastly different to a cage, is a place where fish can live because their biology permits then to exist exclusively underwater.

Peoples arguments of "The human body couldn't make that kind of trip" and "There is no technology enabling us to travel that far" is rather illogical. If aliens exist, why would they be the same as us? The mere fact they are alien implies a different physiology and that they have acclimated to a very different sort of living, so their technology would be vastly different, possibly superior, possibly lesser, but the point is you can't argue with someones belief when your whole argument is "Well we can't do it, so no one can."

Emotional attachment to a film is reasonable. Many people love books the way many love films. Although movie lovers get shit all over more often than book readers. I don't think any publisher would green light John Q Publics sequel to Brave New World or 1984. Some books are great as a standalone piece and further books, by the author, would be useless, so having someone else come along and do it would be blasphemy. Same principle for Kelly's Darko.
And Fluke, the only resemblance I see to Fear and Loathing is that there's a car trip involved.

Four letters.

F.E.A.R.

Scared me shitless in less than 2 minutes. I still haven't beat that game. Too damn scary. And you know it's scary when you unload two magazines into ghosts you know aren't really there.

I have to agree. Quite heartily. I've finished the game, and when playing through again, it still scared me. I always waste so many bullets.
