Hang on, I wasn't slagging anyone for posting pictures of themselves when they're not here much. I GENUINLY think it'd be cool to have internet strangers appear, post self-portraits, and dissapear again!

I just thought of the idea when you said you weren't here much, and it set me on a train of thought that resulted in a sort of older-verstion-of-boyd (not posted by me b.t.w)

Oh, okay then ^_^/

All aboard the train of thought! ^_^/

I've wanted to post that somewhere, anywhere for so long its scary.

General Discussion / Cooperative Radio Station
Tue 14/09/2004 02:39:36
Hey there guys ^_^
I happened to be playing around with shoutcast while in #ags, and I discovered (well I knew it already in some cases) that many people have stations of their own. However, these stations are often poorly attended, rarely run and not established except within a person's circle of aquaintances. That is not to say they're not excellent, I throughly enjoy listening to other people's musical playlists, especially if they add commentary to them (a la Obi Leo) or if haven't heard of them before (a la DasJoe's awesome German Indie). So, I happened to comment that I wished there was a way for other people to access my server, which I rarely am able to use, to provide music, and keep people interested when I'm away... And Gal pointed out that I could.. So earlier today I tested it with Obi and now with Das Joe as I speak. I figured this could actually be a permanent thing; I have a fixed IP, and I leave my computer on so people can see my Away messages anyway ^_^ So, I asked a couple of awesome people in #ags if they'd like to help, and I ask you all now if you'd like to contribute some time... All's you need is a recent version of winamp, a relatively well-labelled and interesting mp3 connection, and the ability to choose a playlist to be put on at a certain time. I already have a few folks willing to help me out, with a myriad of different tastes and nationalities, and I think this could easily attain the status of 'awesome'. I obviously don't want this to become too high profile, but I'd kinda like to give it a name and website... so, uh, what do you thing would be good? So far, I have the following suggestions from people:
Radio AGS (since this unofficial, I don't really want to use that)
Adventure Radio
[Ad|Rad]
K.B.P.S. as in (kb/s)
Radio Free Tommorow
Alphonics
Radio Where's Alky?
Radio New International
[Radio] International Adventure Audio (RIAA ^_^)

Anyhow, anyone got anything? Or opinions? Yes, I know this isn't technically legal, but disclaimers can do wonders, and there are literally thousands of stations out there as far as I know. And it's purely not for profit; it simply aims to broaded musical horizons of adventure gamers (it's practically a charity). I remember 'Gal telling me to download Catch 22 (now my favourite band ^_^), getting hotspot excited by sending him a skateboard song and recieving pro audio tracks by Trapezoid, Haddas and Iqu (all AGS users). So I think this could be a good thing. And maybe somebody can do an AGS info/news show eventually? The internet is expanding, and with many AGS users having DSL or better (I now have Cable, after years of complaining ^_^) we can do far more stuff. And maybe even still make games... ^_^

I've been working in a cinema all summer. The best thing that happened was some guy who came in, asked to use the restroom, and then commenced screaming loudly for a long time. After a while, he left. Genius.
We also have this huge fight-club style secret working class network spread over town. All the folks in the stores without inventories (packaged products), like ice cream, pizza, starbucks give us stuff, in exchange for movie tickets (or more accurately, for the usher to look away when they come in). It's awesome, it means that while we get like no money ($7.10/hour, CT minimum wage), we get free movie tickets (in all cinema chains, not just ours), free food, free drinks and such...

But the one untouchable store is Subway, where I get like 53453% percent of my meals. Damn it, rich  :P

English A*
English Lit A
I hate you ^_^

I screwed up English bad; It's like one of my favourite subjects. And I don't know about the A* in physics. If memory serves, physics was my last exam, and I didn't actually wait till after that had finished to commence killing brain cells. IIRC, I was also crap at it.

Examination  Board  Final Grade
GCSE Biology  OCR  A
GCSE Chemistry  EDEXCEL  B
GCSE Electronics  AQA  B
GCSE English  OCR  B
GCSE English Literature  OCR  B
GCSE French  OCR  A
GCSE History  OCR  A*
GCSE Latin  OCR  B
GCSE Mathematics  OCR  A*
GCSE Physics  OCR  A*

That's 5 B's, 2A's and 3A*'s.

Also, apologies for not being around much; I love you all, but I don't have internet at home. I get it September 2nd, hopefully. I also have like a trailer for a game, or something, which I may post then, or may delete from my hard drive just to annoy people. Yeah ^_^/

Heh ^_^
Knightsbridge is the neighbourhood next to mine ^_^
But, uh, it's a great idea. Just...I wouldn't call it 'Filth City'... like BB says, its sounds kinda tacky. Maybe just use that as a working title, until somebody comes up with something which rocks hard?

CKY = Awesome
Except I went to their show, and they seemed for some weird ass reason to want to play music. Like, okay, whatever... stick to the day job guys ^_^

General Discussion / Re: Beard and long hair!
Mon 28/06/2004 14:25:24
I sorta started growing a beard, like around my mouth (an extended goatee). School rules said I couldn't, and the lameass invigilator for the exam kept telling me to shave it off. I was leaving anyhow, so I was like "Expel me then, bitch!". But I shaved accidentially, so meh.. lame. I liked my xHoboCorex beard..

I'm moving to America, but I should near definately still be able to work on this. Apparently, America has also discovered the internet (well, somebody told me they had. I don't really believe them, y'know..)

Can I come for a day?
It's my last week in Britain, so I'm going to be busy as hell, and more importantly I haven't done much work on adventure games recently or hung around the forum, so I'd feel kinda outta place among you guys, who haven't deserted the cause and stopped ( I swear, as soon as I get outta school I'll make a decent game, and I have some work done on stuff which I can make into an intro/demo when I have some time)
I think you're all awesome, and I'd love to come and meet you guys, but you've probably forgotten who I am and shit... If not, then maybe I could come on Saturday or Sunday?

That was what I wanted to do, on a larger scale...
A game where you start out as a journalist in a fictional south east Asian country (like Vietnam in the 50s or Indonesia in the 70s/60s), and had to investigate and report.
How you treated people was going to influence how people thought of you (eg whether rebels would kidnap or salute you; Whether you'd be welcomed into the American embassy or roughed up by the marines outside, whether marketplace informants would help you, and suchlike) and how the events in the country occured. There was also gonna be sequences where you would have to summarise the text of each weeks article to your editor(which could include facts you discovered, and opinions which further develop the character), a whole series of love interests, and a money based inventory, but I don't have the time or know how to make a game like that.. >_<

SF story is set on Earth after genetic wars where land is devastated and remaining people living in isolated tribes. Main character is member of one such tribe... After people in his willage start dying, he will try to find a cure. As he travels, he will find that Earth was different before...
Fallout 2, anyone? ^_^
But I still like that idea better...

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Re: Bluecup
Mon 10/05/2004 20:38:59
Sorry guys, I have exams, so I haven't been making any AGTV episodes, or games, or pretty much anything (for months..sorry >_<). That means
But if you still want me in Bluecup, that would be cool. I could do some char. animation for those which aren't done, and provide a voice if you need one. Or you could kick me out of the show. You don't really need a lameass token vanilla coke junkie.. ^_^

Heh.
My last exam is the week after...
If it was the next week, I would be able to come. But as it is, I'm leaving England for good on the 1st July, and doing exams till then..(so I can't really leave for that many days)
If you guys ever make an excursion into London, and wouldn't mind having someone who's put his AGS games on hiatus for a while with you, I'd love to come along...

I am personally opposed to posting anything in the GIP forum unless I have a demo/trailer...
I have (or will have) a seperate site with my game ideas and concepts, but I don't believe in clogging that forum up..
But by all means, you can, if you want...

I used to write for unrealtournament.org, and I also have a couple of reviews published in the E-zine. But I won't be able to do shit for a month and a half, so I guess that kinda disqualifies me.

Well, the last one was wrong, but it doesn't matter. I can tell you if you want, but it is, as you say, illegal. I was just offering to help out because I know how frustrating it is to lose stuff. But if you can, buy it - you get the voice acting, and in most cases 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' too.

I'd have another good look for it, and then either find it or buy it. Then delete this thread (Lucasarts guys pick up on this sorta thing if they see you're making a game). But if you really do need it, though, and you can't find it on the web, I guess I could send a version with no voice-acting...

QuoteBe nice. It's not as if your post is free of errors.
True.
But I'm not trying to be mean. Seriously, people need to type with some kind of grammar on the AGS forums, or most people don't take them seriously (or eat them alive in Annie's case ^_^). Sorry if I annoyed anyone...

Geez.
I don't approve of warez, but if you really have merely lost it, then maybe I can help you. I can emphasise with ya, I lost my copy a while ago (I found it again, though...)

But you have to promise me that you'll learn to spell, and not rip a single background. And ya have to prove to me that you've actually played the damn game. If you do, I might see if I can find a copy. But I'd just buy a new one if I were you....

Spoiler

What was Plato's error?
What was the spooky Atlantean guy called?
What was Sternheart's first name?

Deus Ex is damn cool.
Be sure to dig up and post the URL in this thread when you've finished, and if you need beta testers I'd be happy to oblige.
