Hey Agentbauer....

I was pleased to see that you did release an updated version of this remarkable game of yours. Had I knew about it I would have joined you as Betatester again. Well it seems even without me you guys did a great job.

Here's my little review about bugs things that could have been made better etc.
Warning: this texts consists of spoilers. I don't know how to set em in Spoiler mode. So don't read the text if you don't want to get spoiler.


Bugs: On the Galaxy Galeria I had a walkpath bug on Mononlith burger. Roger was stuck right above the Monolith sign. Due to the fact that I had no savegame I had to restart the game. After that everything worked fine I didn't experienced any bugs anymore. So the Monolith bug appears to be random.

On the Goliath you can search the Janitors cart x2 times resulting that I get the knife twice. I remember that you had that bug also in version1 and I reported that back then. Seems you've completely forgotten about that.

After knocking out the spy Roger still says he wondering what he is doing there. Instead of something like "Oh no I've injured him."

On Estros: Before you get the Flashlight you can't enter the cave. However when I talked to Zondra to ask if she has a flashlight Roger is also telling her that the Security system is active and he barely made it out of there.
To that time Roger can't know about the Security System because he is unable to enter the cave without a Flashlight. That spoiled a bit of the Situation inside the hole and should be fixed should there be ever a version 4.


Cristics: The new voice acting is fantastic and adds very much to the Atmosphere. That makes it x10 times better than before. The great commentator was a bit less used in the later parts of the game that's pitty.

I also really much liked the the few new screens like from (This time it's personal.) However I don't understand why you removed the great bar you had in Version1. Instead you now included the same bar we've seen in Space Quest 6. My opinion the other Bar looked much cooler.

I must say you did of course a huge improvement over version 1. However this game still lacks a lot in humor. That was the most important thing in a Space Quest game. For example you're looking at different people.

And you get the answer like: Some engineers, A tourist, A guest.. I mean such things are obvious even without the need to look at them.

Some Enineers working hard to earn their bred.
Or a tourist exploring the wonders of Galaxy Galleria.

Would have been more friendly and would have also expanded the feeling for the game. I'm also not very good at writing humor especially not in english. But you should still have invested more time in doing so.
Even some more small animations like Mrs. Astro chicken flying by would have make it more funny.

It would have been also better if you could have talked to some of the non important charakters.. For example. The tourist with the camera. You talk to him he tells you about his whereabouts pla pla pla.. Then he wants to take a Photo with you and in that moment a sneaky strange looking alien comes by taking his camera.. The tourist chases now the alien to get his camera back. Things like that for example would have make it more funny. Well enough about humor.

I also noted little minor graphic issues: One thing I remember is in Monolith Burger you're asking for the Manager and he tell you it's his brother you're looking for. It would have been very easy to edit that picture and replace the little manager sign on his chest with something like Employee. That's just a little glitch and not really important but it was strange to see that while the real manager is in the Fly in.

All in all a fantastic game and a worthy Space Quest Title none the less. The voice actors did an excellent job here. In my opinion just the lack of humor and some remaining bugs + too much use of other Space Quest backgrounds are preventing it from beeing a god like game. It is clear that in some areas those backgrounds are required story wise but some changes here and there would have make it better.

76mb is large?

We life in 21st century. 80% worldwide should have DSL by now... 15 % more have cable or other even other faster things than DSL.. 5% are still with ISDN or modem maybe.. I don't think that someone should count those people.. I mean they are ghosts they life in the past.

I played it through... Once again the game was awesome like all your previous games.

I'm how ever unhappy that the story isn't over yet. I hate cliffhangers..  :P

Well that doesn't matter. The Story is excellent. I think the game was right balanced. Wasn't to hard and most of the riddles were logicial. The music & graphics were outstanding good.

I really hope Ben Jordan 8 wont be the last game. The end was a bit sad. Lets hope the best for the next chapter.

And that we'll see and get a lot more Ben Jordan games in the future. That's your brand name.

I liked the plot in reference to the previous BJ games.

Fantastic job don't let us wait to long till chapter 8.

Hm no not really except Captain Quirk maybe (SQ V main enemy).

looking good, and sounds good.

but don't forget to add some trees - bushes - cliffs - water - civil buildings - car wrecks etc. on the maps.

Many freeware rts games forget those things and are then really ugly to look at.

I played it through now... I waited a long time for this and i liked it....

The bugs were annoying and destroyed a lot of the good atmosphere.. But that's ok because i know you'll release a patch next week.

Graphic:

The graphics were ok.. They fit perfectly for the story setting.

Voice:

To the voice actors. I don't know why the people don't like em. I had no problems with the voice actors.. But it's true the captain sounded for me like a russian and the girl like 17 years old or younger. Still voice quality was fine, the voices weren't so bad. The player sounded perfect in it's quality. The voices added much to the game atmosphere. I wish every game designer would do that.

Story: The story was fantastic. I like science fiction games and movies. Your game reminded me a little on 7 days a sceptic. I'm looking forward how part 2 will turn out.

I'm however no fan of episode like games... I hope you will make your next episode a bit longer than part 1.
92 mb for 15 minutes gameplay are to large.

gameplay: I had not much problems with this strange control settings. Still it took me some while to figure out how to use things i hope you will fix that in your patch and build a better inventory + use feature in your next game.

I hope the player will get some reinforcements in the next game. Now where's he heading towards the outer rim worlds.

I give you 3 of 5. Only 3 because the game was to short and because there weren't much riddles to solve: I only had 6 items during the entire game in my inventory , gun, explosives, 2 keys, patches, captains book.

Wow! Looking amazing!

But i hope it's more than a murder case\chase we had that allready in part 5.

Still i'm looking forward to it.. I loved Ben jordan since the first part... Ben Jordan games stand for high quality!

Don't worry it isn't a copy.. The reason why he used so much space quest content is story based + the fact that this is cannon.

But people can see it like they want. I was beta-tester and i can garantee you from one sq fan to another. There will be coming something big in the house for Space Quest fans in the following time.  :)  ;)

Fantastic.. my father also introduced space quest back on the amiga to me.

Since then i love those old adventure games and also like games like the Atlantis series etc on pc.


Ok to the demo:

It's true there are alot of ripped graphics. But i don't think thats bad or poor. That gives it the right original space quest feeling. Still i hope you will also add many things by your own to make your game much better and with fresh graphics and characters.


So far i really liked it. Still i wonder if you should recreate the planet in the demo. Because the other areas except for the bar were destroyed and abandoned places during the war with vohoul in space qeust 8 or 12? I cant remember it. Keep the setting but change the colours abit make it looks like an active city. With people walking around etc. All in Space Quest style of course. Delete at all costs the battle tank.


There also still many bugs in your demo. On some places occurred german language (lucky for me that i'm german.)  ;D


I would also recomment to change some of the dialoges. I didn't liked it that there were so many (nothing special here - dialogs). That gives the eye symbole a negativ & useless effect.
For example if you look at the other space ship in front of the bar. you should make roger let say something cool, like..  "Wow one of those new trans-o-speedy 3000 ships. I wonder if i ever get such a ship." something like these things would be more interesting. Just an idea.   ;)

Fix this issues.

I'm looking forward for a new space quest game.
keep it up... you're doing a fine job.


To your questions:

1.) I would prefer the normal game cursor like in the original space quest games. People have to think and look around if the cursor blinks your quest will be to easy i think and people will play it in 1 hour through!

2.) You should implement the taste and smell icon. Your game will show what happend between 4 & 5 so that icons were part in that space quest timeline. Even if you don't use it often some dialogs could improve alot of fun if roger say something funny about smell etc. That gives you also the opportunity to add some riddles where this things are needed.

yep u 're right... i totaly forgot about the huge door etc..

to the walkthrough i didn't see it, had this ininity string thread in my favourites.

Well i played it through now, both ends. It was a really cool game. it has top potential for a sequel!

i can't wait for the next game of sector 13... i'm sure it will become awesome too.

I'am in the jungle and used the battery on the crashed ship to get the cartridges. But my battery is out of energy now. What can i do to restore the power to the battery, without the battery i cant reactivate the robot and proceed.

hi people...

i shame myself to ask..
because i'm stuck still in the beginning.

i have exact the same problem like @MadEvie had.

i allready have the stuff. but i can't find a pipe to continue..

i need papers for printing too. I can't open the drawers in Lab1. i can't dig out the metal rod.

i still need the things of the small holes in mainfloor.

What can i do?

nope..

Sektor 13 i can confirm this little bug.

what he means is: When you allready have the pulse reader and he ask you for it

then the dialog line is allready there.. So far so good. but the dialog line is half

outside the monitor (window). U can't read it. Graphics on 640x480 resolution.

My own feedback so far:

This game is fantastic. It's beautiful!  :) same like your other 2 games before. The music fits good into game and the story is really cool so far. But i'm still in the beginning phase.

to the english issues itself. yep there are some bugs inside it. I don't speak english by my self so i understand it, how hard it could be sometimes to write in english.

People which don't speak english can read it maybe to 100% but can't write the grammar and sentences correctly, like me for example. I suggest to let it fix from some real UK or american people.

I hope there will be a walkthrough in the near future for this game.

i'm a big fan of the past 4 games of the ben jordon series...

i played the first 4 all to it's end, and i loved'em.

Grundislav, can u give us some news about your work on case 5?

maybe some pictures or just a status report in % or something else...

I looking forward to play the new case.
