What constitutes as adultery differ from culture to culture. Legislations needs to define these matters as well. Is it penetration? Does oral count? How about laughing at a party to someone's AWFUL joke. That wasn't funny! You're flirting with him, you whore! May police have a strong suspicion of felony and confiscate the sheets?

Speaking of misogyny, let me mess with your heads:

What's worse? Racism or sexism?

Is it better to mistreat a smaller part of the worlds population, or 50% of it?

Because most people frown at the mere thought of racism, but we keep f**king up the lay-days at industrial levels.

This is turning REALLY interesting. Communicative failures are more or less the most major contributor to heedless violence and or conflict throughout the history. It's surprising we dare to open our jaws at all, but I guess silence would be depicted as a reply as well - and interpreted using the preconceived desires and/or worries of the recipient.

Although, I can see WHY people don't understand what I do or how I do it. I just would like them to not question my work. It usually goes like this:

"But why don't you just do it like this?"
"I'm sorry, that's impossible to create within an appropriate timespan. I have to work within the confines of the medium."
"But I've seen it in several other occasions!"
"..uh, ok, but my reply still stands, you see I-"
"Why don't you just fix it?!"
"How about you take two years worth of system engineering, and then we may discuss these matters again?"

Ok, so the last part is not something I say, but I too often find myself having to EXPLAIN why I do things the way I do. God, one particularly horrible discussion regarded something so silly my mind boggled. I will not go into details, but let me make a simile:

She asked why the pictures in the book wasn't moving. She's seen moving pictures before. Why weren't they moving in the print.

Obviously, it wasn't a book. But her ignorance - to ME - was equivalent. She had no idea of the limits and confines of the desired medium, and her request was as stupid for me as the sentence above. The thing is, as Snarky explained very well above, that we cannot demand the ones who hire us to KNOW our job. But I would do LIKE for them to shut the f**k up and accept my reply. I know my trade. They don't. They should know this. The innovative and revolutionaries are not people ignorant of the limitations - they know them, and know how to abuse them, or how to make a new platform with whole new limits.

It should be "pus".

I'm glad you placed kittens in that wound..

I'd like to ask you the same question!!

Hi Butcher, nice seeing you again. It's not like I hang around here regularly, but I pop in once or twice each 6 months to see if something extreme has happened ;) Once a year, I download the latest version of the engine, install it, open it, stare at it for 10 minutes, and then uninstall it from the computer.

Legal punishment in case of adultery is already in practice. It does however require the parties to write a prenuptial agreement. Marriage mostly defines both parties as a single legal entity in matters of finances - such as taking a loan, buying property etc. It's core foundation lies in financial security for the wives, "securing her future" in marrying. The legal binding works of course within the marriage itself, but the main function lies between the spouses and society itself. One could argue whether the need to treat two individuals as one legal part has any function in our contemporary society, but this is me speaking from a secular western society. But then again, I can only comment on the law as it functions within my own confines.

I'd say, let people take a vow in front of God, Allah, Vishnu or the complete absence of deities with temporal power, and let each and everyone be themselves, alone, at the hands of justice. The laws regarding sex are already FUBAR, and this will only poke an already puss-infested wound further. If they want to enforce this within our secular courts, let them write a pre-nup stating an exact punishment for adultery, and also a definition of the actions performed that constitutes said action.

What's wrong with paedophilia?! It has to one of the most foolproof contraceptive methods ever! Of course, if you're gay (and therefore superior to all others) you don't really have to worry about unwanted pregnancy. I can't really see the benefit of children then - they're usually inexperienced and don't know what to do. Leave 'em to Thundercats and find yourself a nice, hunk of a man to stick it into instead.

Oh, don't forget that if you're straight and without a condom, you could also go for the grannies! Ovaries does not only develop, they degenerate. Avoid women between the age of 12 and 72!

These matters can be summed up in a tier chart as well.

So what, it took like about 2 posts before people started suggesting heavy, death and whatever metal and similar spawns? Always with the freakin' metal. If I want to have somebody screaming at me and making me nervous for an hour, there are more interesting things around.

In deed there is. Saxophonist GOD John Zorn along with the crew of jazz slash grindcore group Naked City released their self-titled album at the end of the 80's, blending a vast variety of musical influences into a cacophony worthy Azatoth himself.

Visuals accompanying the albums we're not much more uplifting.

It's hard to believe that these guys may evoke a stronger negative reaction than Norwegian True Black.

Scaling graphics is not to be recommended, you'll lose a LOT of detail, strangely enough. Much better to abstract lowres gfx from scratch. Now, hires does not imply better graphics by default. Pixel-pushing is an art-form in itself. Like many other creative outlets, it is birthed in the limitations of the 80's medium, but by golly, was there some talented people pushing the limits of 320 x 240 even in the 90's.

Also, you can accomplish ALOT with medium resolution and 256 colours, and that limited colour-space will decrease your game with 90% in pure byte-size.

Just tossing something out there that's often overlooked: Did you know that inventory objects are NOT a boolean, but an integer? And each character has their own set of objects? That means that you can (ab)use the inventory system for making character attributes in an RPG  :=

It's like Full Throttle all over again. Very refreshing to just kick in the door instead of picking the lock with some bent silverware := Don't go too intellectual in your puzzle-design. I don't saying that wrestlers are morons, but if you're sporting 150kg muscles, you should be able to use that in-game..

Shining in the Darkness? Never got into the DC-scene, I enjoyed the tactical battles much more with the sequels, even though I've fiddled a bit with some NES-crawlers.

Checked MySpace out. It's good material, and your own singing reminds me a LOT of 80's nu-romance. Whether that's good or bad, I dunno, but it's good for me  ;D

Shining Force top a LOT of Japanese RPG's on the single premise of a battle system that actually has some point to it. The strategic element is very well written, making for quite a lot of sneaky playing styles. It is also the biggest problem with the game, making for some endless battles. I loved the battles within a specific area, when movement ratio plays a much bigger part. The landscape battles grow tedious after a while when you only may move 1-2 squares each turn.

Still, I love the games passionately.

"The Dependants"

"Secular conviction"

"The saddening jester"

Less irony for every suggestion. Do you have a song uploaded? I'd like to listen  :=

MyPaint's interface is confusing at first, since there basically is none. But it's free and the brush engine is well written. It's well worth a try. I use it with an Intous for Vampires Suck nowadays.

It is the lighting. The rendition is polished into absurdum, making for a droolingly slick outlook, yet it makes for a cardboard cutout appearance. Abstraction, amusingly enough, gives much more immersion. I guess it is the mind filling in the blanks, and good artists know how to exploit that.

Still, I fins it gorgeous in still shots. The first bg above had a massive impact on me.

Just finished it. I guess I can relate to most of the praise and the criticism. The mood and execution is excellent, but the puzzles are somewhat straightforward. It plays more like an interactive story rather than a classic point and click adventure. I've been toying with the same kind of execution and would have stumbled in the same pitfalls. Even so, as a detective game, slowly uncovering more and more of the story behind the gruesome events, it unravels pretty sweet. And I was left with one desire: more.

Two thumbs up, a grand start and hopes of a sequel!  :=

Not many LARPers ever get to fight dragons. Playing drunk on the other hand... oh boy...

On an assorted note, prostitutes are common in fantasy settings, but they usually hand out back rubs. Or you enter the tent/cottage and make funny noises while trying hard to maintain a straight face. It's all show and very little method acting I'm afraid. In fact, sex is usually avoided as more than a comedic subject, since it's so close to your own being. Brutal violence has been stylized since our early childhood through games and movies, but sex leaves few unaffected whichever the form.

But then there's more specialized LARPs that work with relationships and drama rather than an epic fantasy, and sex is as important in that as it is in real life. It's not uncommon to use safe words, as in BDSM. Come to think of it, BDSM is very much like LARPing - but LARPing is not very much like BDSM  :=

Most amateur artists draws with fine movement. In these cases a A5 or even A6 is to recommend. Professional artists tend to work with greater and greater movement, and prefer to zoom in to >200% even on highres images for precision work.

Therefore, first take a look on your analogue technique. The above is of course a generalisation.

Me myself started out really small, but started working on larger and larger originals. When I finally bouught a tablet, I went for a used Intous 3 A3. There's no real wear and tear on these suckers and a new stylus is (relatively) cheap. You can always scout eBay for a nice deal.

I'll second the oppinion on older models. New models mean new finesses, but they does not have a direct impact on your drawing. I checked out the Graphire 4 on SPX09, which had a couple of nifty gadgets to increase and decrease brushsizes dynamically and a focus mode. But apart from an alleged increased pressure sensitivity, everything new was time saving gadgets.

"What's a LARP"? *hisses and crawls back into the shadows*

You can borrow a bit of fashion from swashbuckling movies such as Cutthroat Island and PotC. Other inspiration can be gathered from le Pacte des Loups. Your biggest problem is still your finances. Leather might be steep in cost, but fabric in appropriate fashion is not exactly cheap either. I wise idea is to start of with an old second hand dress and modify it. To give an appearance of richer clientel, you could always work with your hair rather than clothing - a complex hairstyle speaks of wealth.

@Eggie: That's Björk, no? She's still hot  ;D
