Quote from: Ponch on Sat 22/07/2023 21:30:08Just sent my game out to a play tester. Looks like I'll actually have a game to enter this month!

That is fantastic! Congratulations!

I wanted to try my hand at offering up some art for the website.
Here's my take on Number 4 and Number 3 respectively for the Nominee and Winners of the AGS award:

I have the SVG files these came from and would gladly pass them along to be edited/resized if there's any interest in them.

Quote@4KbShort, please add your game to the database on the game page!

Done!

Great job on the entry! I gave it a shot. No big errors or bugs. A lot of trial and error, but nothing too difficult. It's nice that I can "lose" and keep going though. I believe I finished it as I was able to drive off so that's a thing too! Wonderful work!

Good luck! Looking forward to playing it!

I know that reviving a zombie thread isn't the most proper online etiquette. However, I didn't want to post a new thread since this one wasn't locked and is on topic for what I wanted to post. Also, the charter/rules didn't say anything negative about it so I'm taking a chance.   (laugh)

I heard of MAGS from OneShortEye on YouTube talking about Owl's Quest which was an old MAGS entry. I think a few other people may have heard about it from there as well. Along with that I see a few people stumble in from the internet every now and again and get excited about the idea even if they don't have the time to participate.

I love Game Jams as they give me the best option of "finishing" a game even if it's just intro->credits with a lot of jank between and I tend to gravitate towards Ludum Dare like so many others, but when I don't have time to get into that I often want to find a new jam to work on in order to make a game under crunch and to do that I go to Itch.io which has a Jams section right at the top of the page.

I took a look today and didn't see MAGS on there. I also don't see MAGS or Adventure Games Studio as a "commonly used suggested" tag when I post my games which suggests a lot of AGS/MAGS games don't end up on Itch.io. There are a ton of people on Itch.io and one of the important things on getting your name out there is to put it where people can see it and though MAGS is great for the AGS community it seems if you'd like more participation or at least knowledge of its existence, getting the name on a game distribution site meant primarily for self-published games of any genre or completion with and without monetary compensation would be a good little boost.

And to respond to some VERY old concerns about pre-made assets there's a ton of those for paid and for free on Itch.io as well which can be used to make a quick adventure game without falling into the "everything looks the same" problem that might occur from a single source.

Since Stupot is the main mod for the jams I would assume it would be up to them to host the jam, but it is an option to increase the number of entries or at least to get people to look at them a bit more.

Quote from: glurex on Mon 26/06/2023 21:14:38Great to see that there will be, at least, two entries this month!

I'm currently playin' The RoadTrip in my RG351V:

Amazing! It's always exciting to see my creations in different places. Hope you enjoy!

A little early, but it's done:

This will be my last MAGS entry for a while. Kinda took the wind out of me, but I'm super proud of what I did here! Please enjoy!

Dunno if it's unethical to enter a contest you chose the theme for, but here's something I have so far:

It looks and sounds better in person, but since it's a title screen only for the moment there's not much to upload.

IT IS DONE!

The Passenger has you on a plane with a MURDERER! Or is it?
Honestly this is not the best this could have been, but there's a gameplay loop and you can finish the game. It also has "multiple endings" of a sort.

Yet another game where there's no real puzzles. Just story... and barely that, but it's done! Please enjoy!

Quote from: Stupot on Mon 29/05/2023 15:35:52@4KbShort I've just seen your last post. How is that last-ditch entry looking?

If you need a couple of days extension, that can be arranged.

Not as good as it was a week ago. Although the idea was as simple as I could make it and it follows some of the same design choices I made in "The Errand" there's more parts to it so it's taking a little longer than expected with my other projects and work getting in the way.

It could probably be finished in a day or less if I sit and just work on it and nothing else. Only downside is I start work again on the 1st and am out of the loop for 5 days save for a few hours here and there and that would put the deadline out to the 6th or 7th (my next weekend).

Who knows, I may catch a *cough cough* little bug tomorrow. It'd still be a late entry, regardless.

Getting close to the deadline and it seems like not a lot has been posted.
I've poked at this idea a couple of times throughout the month and came up with an "okay" idea and made half a single background image, but other things have gotten in the way.
However, due to a strange coincidence I have the last two days of the month off.

So since I don't want to see this month's Jam go down without a fight I'll be doing my darndest to get an entry in by EOD May 31st. Fingers crossed!

Quote from: Stupot on Wed 03/05/2023 21:19:33Any early interest?
It's a great theme.

It is a fantastic theme and it keeps coming up in my mind from time to time, but I have a bunch of other projects I think I want to work on in the next few weeks with what free time I have. Since I usually think about it for half the month then cram out a game in a weekend or when I have a few hours to spare I feel like my entries have been less game than practice demos tending to miss the puzzle part of the adventure game genre.

Still, I watched Spaceballs recently and "technically" that's a story about air... in a way.

This is the last full day I have to work on my game so I just decided to finish it!

This time I made sure the page was publicly displayed and I downloaded the archive and tested it so hopefully no errors in that department.

Please have a go and enjoy!

Quote from: Stupot on Sat 22/04/2023 18:21:49How are we getting on, gang?

Hmm, it seems @Coco the Clown has deleted their profile. And @MOCCA hasn't posted since their first and only post last week.

Is anyone else working on something?

As usual, I started late, but here's an upscaled screenshot of a background I made. Warning: Excessive use of dithering!

Congrats @RootBound for winning the month! It really is a great game and you deserve it!

@Creamy Thanks for playing The Gift I really appreciate the feedback! It's also illegal to sell human elements within the United States or to pay for them, but Plasma centers get around this by stating they're paying you for your "Time". It's a loophole, but the services are regulated by federal agencies so it seems to be a legitimate thing. I've worked in Plasma for a very long time and it can be very stressful for people, but in most cases people don't realize you can earn money and help others by donating plasma as direct blood donations are not compensated like plasma.

Quote from: MOCCA on Thu 13/04/2023 03:48:55Hey there, I'm also new and also heard about MAGS and AGS from a video. Thought I'd give MAGS a try to learn the engine though I'm starting to think I might've bitten off more than I can chew without much gamedev experience. Nonetheless, I got the characters walking and animating and interacting with things, so I'm hoping I can push through to the end and maybe get a short game done by the deadline! Here's a little work in progress screenshot:

Good first screenshot and welcome to making games! I've worked with a lot of "make a game" engines in the past and can say that AGS is very intuitive and easy to pick up for making adventure games. Much more so than making your own engine in another language or IDE. Good luck on finishing and I look forward to playing your entry!

Quote from: RootBound on Sat 08/04/2023 20:21:07Hey @4KbShort I played and enjoyed your game - it's interesting how opposite our approaches to the topic were. Yours was upbeat and positive the entire way through. Meanwhile I'm over here trying to write a tearjerker with some literal lifting-up. :) I had fun. Hope to see more AGS games from you in the future!

Thank you! I enjoyed your game as well. Great music, very atmospheric. It did get a little difficult at the end, but it wasn't enough to make it frustrating and the ending was very uplifting! Great work!

Quote from: RootBound on Wed 05/04/2023 15:23:39Hey @4KbShort, it looks like your downloadable archive doesn't actually contain a game executable file. Am I overlooking something? Thanks.

Nope, not just you. Don't know how it wasn't included in the ZIP, but it has been re-compiled, re-zipped, re-uploaded and I downloaded the file to test it and it's in there now. So sorry for everyone who downloaded the game with no way to run it.

Thank you for letting me know!
