Thank you for being so helpful anain, and look! I posted the link without having to get a grown-up :D.

Ok, first off I decided I wanted a cooler tone to the colours, I also narrowed down the door frame considerably, removed and shadows that seemed inconsistent with the window-lightsource, neatened off the sink's shadow, and gave the window ledge a bit of a fiddle.

I think this style matches the game better overall, and I don't have to scale characters!

Critique?

Right, seriously blood-shot eyes now lol. Just tried making the bathroom from scrath in isometric perpective. it has taken me FOREVER.

Unfortunately, I can't get the direct image link, could someone who knows how post it up for me, it is on this link. Thanks!

Ok, what do you think? critique?

Thank you :)  yes, same bathroom, very different style. I don't think i'm going to be able to get away with not using perspective, it just looks off, rather than looking like a style choice. Thing is, Whenever I make a 1 point perspective room it just looks dull to me. Still, probably better that way rather than like this.

hmm, need to think about this...

Hello everyone! I've almost completed the script of my first ags game, a joint effort with my brother.

I'm having serious trouble deciding on an art style, and It is holding back progress.
I'm actually the top student in my art class for 2 and a half years at college, and I sell prints and original drawings online now and again. But to look at my pixel art, you would think I was a ten year old drawing with my feet!

I've done this sketch of the main character's bathroom, but I have no idea how I'm going to sort it out. I know the perspective is off, but I think that might work quite well with the overall style. However, I'm not sure is the placement of the sink is too off. Also, you will be spending lots of time in this room during the game, so I don't want it to be an eye sore.

A quick paint over to show me some simple shading, corrections or colour scheme ideas would be incredibly helpful. Any advice at all really :)

Ok any idea why the link isn't working??

Mad that is a vast improvement, thank you. I agree, looks much better without the gradients, and I like what you've done with the door panels, bath and window! Ok, time to improve mine...

Thanks everyone! come to think of it, the teleport booths probably look out of place because they were part of an older background, along with the big sign, which I'm now gonna get rid of. I'll need plenty of critique help with my character animations, particularly the up walk which always looks odd when I do it.

I Know I'm capable of doing more detailed stuff than the bathroom, but for this practice game I just want it to be neat and perspective correct. I'd love an example paint over of the bathroom to give me some ideas, I'll have a go at adding a shower and fixing the door panels, but  I'm not that great at picking colours etc. I've got so many crazy game ideas I won't be able to pull off until I've got a better grasp of ags, see :D

Hi everyone! my name is Owen, I'm VERY new to ags. I recently decided to create a very simple practice game, to help me get to grips with scripting etc. Problem is, I'm a perfectionist so nothing is ever simple. I consider myself an pretty decent artist, but pixel-ing is very different. Take a look at my work here to get an idea of the kind of thing I draw-

Anyhoo.. for my practice game I don't want to spend too long on graphics, as I just want to get down to the nitty-gritty of the scripting this time, to make sure I'm able to do it!

The first 320-200 background is very simple, If I can shine this up a bit I think I will use this style for my practice game. It is a bit bland, and I would love it if someone could give me some ideas with a quick paintover??

The Second background is an experimental style I'm trying out, using paintshop pro rather than mspaint! this one is a scroll background. Obviously, these two backgrounds aren't going to be in the same game.

so critique please? paintovers, perspective etc

And if you are wondering, the thing on the right of the scroll background is a cloning vat ;)

Excellent! I think I'll start off with a fairly simple practice game, some of the ideas I've got at the moment may be to difficult to start out with. I need to get to grips with creating hotspots, walkable areas, animated backgrounds, conversations Etc.  I won't try too hard to make everything look polished,  I'd end up spending weeks on the backgrounds!  I'll keep the graphics clean and simple for the test game.

Thanks for the welcome, and for the advice fellas.  I remember when I first tried out AGS 3 years ago,  it was virtually impossible to do voiceovers for your game. Is this any easier now? we would love to do the voice acting!

hi everyone! my name is Owen, I'm an 18 year old self taught artist. I enjoy drawing realism and cartoons, and I love using photoshop and Paintshop pro. Me and my big Bro are long-time adventure game lovers, in fact we are currently playing the epic broken sword games trough yet again with our little brother. We have just made the decision to make our first adventure game!  About 3 years ago I had a mess about with ags, but I didn't have the commitment that I needed to make a game.  We are creative guys, our only problem being that we are both perfectionists. Here is a link to my online art store,  where I sell pencil art and digitally coloured prints of my drawings.

I reckon I'm capable of doing the graphics, and I can put together a walk cycle I reckon, and my bro makes music! So looks like we are set!!

So a big hi from both of us!! any advice before we get started??
