This game is far from dumb! I really enjoyed the experience. I think the strong point is the well-developed puzzles with an impressive array of different types, ranging from inventory puzzles to completing tasks for reward to dialogue to combining items and more. I happen to enjoy games with a lot of exploring and this game definitely has that. I found the ending to be completely heart-warming!

The only area that can be improved is that I spent a lot of time trying to find exits to rooms. This is true not only missing new areas because it was not obvious as to which hotspot leads to the next room but I sometimes entered a room and couldn't figure out how to get back to the previous room.

Otherwise, amazing job for a first game!

Cheers

I just finished. Great experience, overall! I love the retro look, feel and references. Very puzzle-heavy but the puzzles are really well-designed and at a perfect challenge level.  Really, REALLY funny! I actually got a lot of laughs (especially during the barbarian section)

Lots of games have multiple playable characters but not like this one. Play it (if you haven't yet) to find out...

The only thing that affects the actual ending is whether you shoot the pig or not. There's two different endings

I'm glad that you enjoyed the game!

Thank you!

I was wondering:

At the end of the game, there are some decisions to make. Do different decisions affect the ending or do they basically land you in the same place?

I finished this game and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

- I think the best part was the puzzles. There is such a range of puzzles from dialogue, to inventory, to closeup puzzles, an arcade-sequence puzzle that requires strategy and more. It's amazing how every part ties into another part of the multi-stage puzzles but despite this, I was able to complete the game with very few hints.

- The story was intriguing and the puzzles worked perfectly to pace the timing of the plot unfolding to make you want to keep playing. It's clear that a lot of extra effort was put into the plot to give it that extra polish.

- I had a LOT of laughs. I found the humour to be spot on

Overall, a really enjoyable experience

I voted for the Sphinx of Time, as it was the most complete entry with a variety of puzzles, specified task and play value. I was able to complete about 3/4 of it independently but at some point, had difficulty progressing without hints and using WHAM's playthrough.

Edited to add: WHAM posted a walkthrough so I cheated using his solution. Thanks to everyone who helped!

So, I found all 4. I assume that the shape of the window corresponds to the shape of the button. This only holds true for the triangle, though. None of the other ones correspond to any of the button shapes.

- no, the only hint it gives is that you need a closer look.

Yes.

Arm up - one is outside the museum and one visible from the museum wall
Arm down - one is visible from the museum.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: The Order
Mon 07/10/2024 00:33:49
I completed this game and I really enjoyed it. I want to leave some comments:

Graphics, sound and immersion: I usually prefer to see a character walking around the screen and doing things as well as animations, but somehow the art in this game is just so well-done that the experience was immersive notwithstanding.

Story, Puzzles and Pacing: this is the hardest part to accomplish because one never knows how the player is going to respond while playing but this game absolutely nailed it. The background history is fascinating and the puzzles unfold at a perfect pace while playing. The puzzles are an excellent variety of inventory puzzles and dialogue puzzles and the difficulty is just at that level where you can solve almost all of them just by using a bit of thinking and intuition. I had to ask for some hints for a few puzzles but I was able to solve almost everything on my own.

It's clear that a lot of effort went into the game and the result is amazing.

Huge spoiler alert! I don't know which puzzles you haven't solved yet, so it's rather kind of walk through, if you don't want to spoil the whole thing, just read till you find a new hint and then stop reading:
Spoiler
To be able to open/look at the book Olum-e Qaribeh, first you need to solve these puzzles:
1. Cut the golden wire in the severed head's mouth with the shears in the kitchen
2. Give the golden wire to pimp
3. Talk to sexslave (she'll tell you she's looking for the book Roman Myths)
4. Talk to librarian about the book Roman Myths, he'll mention "Sad Barg Ostureh"
5. After Picking up the red book from Mystic's room you'll be able to swap it with "Roman Myths" aka "Sad Barg Ostureh" in the library
6. Give the "Sad Barg Ostureh" book to sexslave
7. You should be able to pull her sheet and look at her tattooed breast and receive her loincloth
8. Give/show the loincloth to mystic and he'll tell you that you need to look at the "Olum-e Qaribeh" book to decipher the occult writing on the loincloth
9. You can tear off the loose bottom right corner of the page and it will go unnoticed by the librarian
[close]

Thanks! I actually completed 7 before getting stuck, but now I'll continue with 8....thanks again!

Stuck again

Spoiler
I need to start the fire. I assume that I need a page from a book for kindling, but I can't take any of the books from the library. I can't bring the shears TO the library either. I tried using the sparks on everything in sight, I tried using the dagger on the one book (Hawi) that I can take off the shelf. I am thinking that there's a way to get rid of the library guard?

Hints & Tips / The Order
Mon 30/09/2024 06:04:37
I am finally stuck.

Spoiler
I have to find the Hawi book recommended by the mystic but it's not in the library. The only book I haven't seen the title of is the one that the librarian is blocking but I don't know how to move him.

I don't know how to open the mouth of the head

I don't know how to get precious metals for the pimp

I think I need a recipe to use in the kitchen but that make be in the book I mentioned at first.

I don't know how to look at the inscription next to the door

[close]

I probably only need help with one or two of these in order to solve the rest but I really don't know how to proceed.

Thank you
