I'm sorry, but I don't understand.

EDIT: Well, I finally managed to happen upon the solution.

Spoiler
When you randomly encounter the room with an Angel, use one of the memories on her.

To be perfectly honest though, I don't think making the act of saving the game a puzzle was a good idea, especially when the game itself doesn't make it clear that this is the only way to save the game. I was honestly this close to just quitting the game without saving, almost ruining what was otherwise a great experience so far.

But yeah, aside from that, this is a really good game so far. Nice graphics, atmospheric audio, and a really interesting story. Now that I know how to save, I look forward to seeing what else the game has to offer.

Quick question; how do you save the game? The only button I can see appears to be a quit button.

Oh hey, I see you updated the cover art. Looking a lot better now!  :cheesy:

That cover art is great! That said, I can't help but notice how different the protagonist's design is when compared to his game sprite, specifically his shirt's colour and sleeves.  :confused:

Another great background. Keep up the good work. ;-D

These backgrounds are gorgeous.

Nice. Your background artwork is gorgeous.

Wow, that screenshot with the gate looks gorgeous. There's such a wonderful atmosphere to it.

So how goes development? Also, are you going to wait until the full episode is completed before you release it, or will there be a demo?

Cheers guys :)

@BishyT

This is exactly what I had in mind to be honest. Would it be worth registering for steam greenlight on something like this?

Well, Steam does allow non-sexual nudity just as long as it's not in any of the promotional material (trailers, screenshots, etc). I recall Shower With Your Dad Simulator having some issues with that, and their penises were literally two pixels. :P

Personally, i'd wait until the first episode is out and you've got some feedback on it first. Because then you could make any necessary changes/updates to it, squash any bugs in it, and then when you make the Greenlight page for the series you can link to the first episode on GameJolt so the voters can play it for themselves before voting.

Quote from: Nixxon on Fri 19/08/2016 07:23:41I would inevitably love this to be a commercial franchise, not sure I could justify charging for part 1 as this is a relatively short endeavour.  If anyone has any experience or suggestions pertaining to this I would be all ears.

Well, it's not unheard of for an episodic series to have a free episode to draw players in. Case in point, I remember Sam & Max season 1 having a free episode (I think it was episode 4), and playing through that convinced me to buy all the episodes. The newest Kings Quest has also made it's first episode free.

So you could keep the first episode free and then charge for the others.

The game looks awesome, and the artwork is especially good.

If you don't mind me asking, since you're using Unity to produce the graphics, why aren't you using Unity to make the game itself? Just curious.

Well, that one downloaded and extracted without Avast throwing a wobbly. However, clicking the .exe gives the error "There was a problem initializing graphics mode 320x200. (Problem: 'Can not set video mode')". However, I was able to get it to work by copying and pasting the winsetup.exe from another game and changing the name of the main .exe to match. Thanks for the help!
#14
Well, I added an exception and got the file to extract, and now there's a new problem! Trying to run "CHEF.exe" (the only file in the .rar) brings up the message "Error ST02: could not load game file 'AC2GAME.DAT'." Clicking OK brings up a second message, "You must create and save a game first in the Room Editor before you can use this engine." How strange.
#15
Strangely enough, even that threw up a warning from Avast, "Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]". I managed to get the file, tried extracting it, and then Avast threw up another warning when I tried extracting it, blocking the extraction process and causing it to fail, so back to square one.

What on earth is in this specific game that's got Avast so worried? This hasn't happened with any other AGS game before.

EDIT: Scanning the file itself brings up no warnings. It's only when I try to either download it or extract it that Avast throws a wobbly.
#16
Every time I try to download The Chef, Avast picks it up as a suspicious file and blocks further attempts at downloading it. If I do manage to download it, the zip file is unreadable. Is there any chance we could get a download mirror or something?

I'm sorry, but does anyone know how to get this plugin working? The readme isn't very helpful. I don't know where to put these script commands or how they should be used.
I've tried adding them like this:

void SetAGIScalingMode(1);
int GetAGIScalingMode();
void UseAGIScaling(1);

But I just keep on getting errors when compiling.

EDIT: I've managed to get it working. Turns out you have to write those variables WITHOUT the "void" and "int" parts within a function.

So for example:

Code: ags
function game_start() {
    SetAGIScalingMode(1);
    GetAGIScalingMode();
    UseAGIScaling(1);
}

Then it will work. :)

No worries, I actually found the game I was talking about. The game was "Salazar's Evil Plan".

As you can see from the reviews, it wasn't exactly well received (and for good reason). :P

There's this game that I remember downloading from the AGS website, but I can no longer find it (or, at the least, i'm having trouble finding it).

It was an offensive game about an evil scientist that built some sort of machine that turned every man in the world gay, and it was up to the protagonist (supposedly the only character in the game to not be affected by it) to destroy the machine. The graphics were kinda poor, looking like the whole thing was drawn in MSPaint, and much of the humour in the game was more or less a string of gay stereotypes.

Anyone know which game i'm talking about?

While we're on the subject of Sketchup, I did happen across a really nice tutorial on using a combination of a Sketchup render and digital painting to create nice backgrounds. Of course it's cheating (it's more editing a render rather than painting a background from scratch), but the results this artist got look really nice and stylised. The slight use of fisheye probably helps to keep the scene from looking too boxy and 'neat'.
