Nevermind. I deleted the corresponding user directory and created a new project. Now it works. False alarm. Issue resolved. Probably there was still an old file that could not be updated to patch 1.

The "Tumbleweed" template gives me the following error message when I try to compile:

"CustomDialogGui.asc(431): Error (line 431): '.ViewportHeight' is not a public member of 'System'. Are you sure you spelt it correctly (remember, capital letters are important)?"

Probably this has already been discussed, but I was not able to find the topic.

I was playing around with the presets. When I compile and run them in „windowed mode“ everything works fine, but when I select „fullscreen“ there are weird colors (7 verb-Monkey Island style) or way too small.

Commercial AGS games on Steam such as “Blackwell Legacy” work fine.

I use Windows 8.1 and the latest Nvidia-drivers.

What's my exact issue?

Maya convices me more than 3Ds Max, because (1) it runs faster on my machine and (2) the UI is more logic to me and (3) it does not crash that often. Moreover, there are a lot of high quality tutorials of Digital Tutors available.

Right now I am “playing” with the Mayas particle system and it is quite impressive what you can do. Anyway, I want to get well at most of Mayas basic functions in order to create my first rooms for my game.

Is mental ray really that bad implemented in Maya? What kind of renderer do you use?
