Congrats. Releasing the first game is always super exciting, fun and nightmarish as well. Looks really cool. Once my own nightmares slow down, I'll jump into this.

A key on the table does not need to be small. The hotspot itself can be larger. Pixel hunting for tiny items is something nobody wants to do, but there's easy work arounds for that. You don't even need to see the key, if the hotspot says table, or patch of grass.

When it comes to picking up items, some sort of goal would be nice. If a player is trapped, they will pick up the most insane things, and that makes sense. If not trapped, even a hint of dialog can help solve this if a goal isn't yet established. Character says.."I have large pockets, why not use them." This isn't the greatest way to make games, but at least it gives the player something. Also, maybe the character says right away, I need these things before I can move on.

Absolutely amazing. I'll take pixel art like this over any other type of graphics. Can't wait to play this.

This looks great. Always been a LOTR fan. I remember playing the 'The Dark Crystal' game you made a long time ago when I was making games. Another movie I really loved. I will check this out soon. Congrats on the release.

Congrats to all the winners, and to all who made a game in 2024.

And thanks to all who participated in the ceremony.

Thank you, cat. Very happy to see you are still here. All of you bring back such great memories. I also love seeing many of you still have the same avatars.

I'm having a great time getting creative with my wife and son. We are full steam ahead. Looking forward to show more soon.

Hello everyone. It's been a long time. I wouldn't call myself a newbie, but after being gone for 8 years, I feel like one again. I created the AGS, The Visitor series, one, two and three. Glad to see a batch of familiar faces are still around.

My son is now 11 and I decided to show him AGS. I've started creating a 4th game to the series with him. I'm probably about 35% of the way through. Looking at a possible Halloween time release. Once I'm further along I'll make a game in production thread.

Thankfully I kept many old programming notes and old graphics and sprites to make it possible. I'll be around and looking forward to joining the community again. It really does feel good to be back.

Sadly, there were terror attacks on Sri Lanka churches. I heard there were 875 churches over the past year in France that were involved with fire or vandalized.

If this is true, it makes me wonder what the numbers are across the globe.

General Discussion / Re: The beer thread

I've been drinking Samuel Adam's Boston, And a few others made by Samuel Adam's. I used to drink lighter, more watered down beers. I look back now and I get the shivers. So glad I tried something different.

I think it's the high hats and snares that make it feel less like game music. In my opinion there feels like there is a bit of everything thrown in. It doesn't seem to fit a specific scene. Again, just my opinion, but if he were to remove some of those sounds it may have a better vibe. At the moment the vibe seems to move from dark to cheery at times and appears that it is being pulled in different directions.

I always try to picture a certain area or scene when listening to game music. There just seems to be one or two extra sounds that he can do away with.

Edit: After listening again. Maybe it's just the whistle. The X files whistle that I'm not into? I was never a whistler.

I appreciate the music. Not bad by any means.

These videos might help. They are old, but they will give you an idea of how things work.

Congrats on a very enjoyable game. I too had a blast playing and couldn't seem to stop until I completed it. Very cool puzzles that were fun and enjoyable with a good variety of them mixed in. The game flowed really well and although the graphics could have been a bit more polished, they had a nice charm to them. I loved every bit of it.

Thanks to you and your team for a fun ride. Looking forward to your next game!

Lots of The Visitor assets have been donated. Hopefully someone can find some use for it. No credit needed and it may be used for whatever anyone wants to do with it. Happy Adventuring people of AGS. I would love to see some spin offs of the series. Donate to the trove people. For the love of Adventure games!

I will be donating all of my game assets from The Visitor series soon. Hopefully someone will find them useful. This is a great thing you're doing Retro Wolf.

I still cry to this day, on the inside, because I no longer make games. The pain is real

Another personal favorite of mine was Alien Isolation. I thought they did a really good job with the aliens AI. Not perfect, but well done. I'm also a huge Alien fan, so maybe this swayed me a bit, but there was some really tense moments playing that game. Sneaking around with almost no way to defend yourself is terror in itself. Scary atmosphere trumps jump scares any day IMO. The longer you play, the less scary it is, but I would prefer this over the game being too short.

As we all know, it's impossible to make everyone happy.

I agree with you mandle, the game does have flaws, especially the ones you mentioned. I only played the game once, so maybe that was a good thing for me. I never got to see the disappointment of playing more than once.

I really enjoyed the tense atmosphere of knowing that I can't start over. No going back and clicking the load button gave me a feeling that I haven't felt in video gaming in a long time. I thought they did a really good job with the game though. They took a chance with this style of game play, and I applaud that.

Until Dawn is one of my all time favorite games.

The gameplay was so simple, yet so effective. Great story, no do overs which really makes the game tense and scary.
