Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tried to streamline core pieces of the adventure game by giving the player all the inventory items the needed, one button to use them, and prompting the player every time there was a new dialog option. I'm not sure how much that comes across in playing the game though.

Ludum Dare was last weekend and for it I made a game about going to space. It's kind of short and there's not much to the gameplay but the theme was minimalism so I'm just going to go with that.

The game itself is on my entry page.

Ghost, I'm so glad you're making something! Coming up with that first concept is the hardest part of the creative process for me so I was worried nobody would be able work with what I came up with.

It's my month so I'm not entering, but I made a game to keep in practice. It's also the first game I wrote up a design doc-ish thing for before hand as a way of organizing my work and setting clear goals.

UPDATE 4/11: Fixed a lot of dead end paths.

Last weekend the Pulse Pounding Heart Stopping Game Jam was held. The jam was centered around dating sims and encouraged the use of Twine and Renpy. I was originally going to make the game in Renpy until I remembered I didn't remember much about Renpy and could probably make the game much faster and much easier using AGS.

The original idea was that you played as the unbelievably cool friend of a typical dating sim/harem everyman and had to help him get a girlfriend. It kept that theme but ended up going down a pretty different route than I originally planned. I have to say it was probably for the better though? There is actually art this time because it was done my comic artist friend who shares my site.

Congrats dkh! Each month I am impressed and motivated by people who make such great games.

Ghost, your idea seems to fit just fine. And Radiant, your idea is in the spirit of the theme and I'm really curious the whole-game a bunch of half-games would make.

It seems to be a habit that every other month I get emboldened enough to come up with a game well beyond what I know how to do and could probably figure out in a month. But that's not going to stop me from trying it anyway. After a couple days of playtesting I believe I've stomped all major gameplay hindering bugs and made a game that is more or less complete. I've even added a couple instructions screens this time!

Therefore I present my March MAGS entry; The Case of the Festival Filcher.

The Longest Winter

I am!

This time I tried to make a more standard adventure game so I could get used actually making a game and not spending most of my time trying to develop some system. I figured it's probably much harder to mess with the basics of a game if I'm not that great at the basics.

Great job Ponch! But watch out next time, I'm on the rise.

Oops! I actually had a small bit of setup at the beginning when the game first loaded but I commented it out when I was testing and guess never put it back in.

The general idea is that you need to explore and find a way to keep yourself busy in the world. You might also want to find a way to use your computer.

I managed to put the finishing touches on my entry right before the deadline. Or at least the deadline in my timezone. I wanted to expand on the base survival gameplay but that would've added on more time than I had this month. This is closer to an actual game than my previous entries but not quite there yet. Then again, I guess that's what next month is always there for.

I also used the default AGS character because it would have taken too long to make my own and it would probably look terrible anyway. Is it fine if I do that?

My MAGS entry based on House of Leaves. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but I'm just glad that I managed to complete MAGS (on time) two months in row. Plus, I learned a few things.

I've completed my very first MAGS entry! Well I finished the 'fairy tale' one too, but not on time. So, I've completed my very first on time MAGS entry!

I'm creating dialogs with a large number of conversation options that are available under different conditions or later in the conversation. Is there any way to have all the options off by default? I just don't want have to make a bunch of lines of "option-off" for each dialog.

There would also be too many dialogs if I simply made new topics for these options.
