thank you everyone for your feedback, it's much appreciated: I'm making a note of all of it.

Quit is ctrl-q or alt-f4 (which I know isn't really a quit function :) ). I didn't think it was necessary to include save since the game is so short, but I could certainly add that functionality to the next version. Thanks!

I did consider creating the ability for players to save the 'film' they shot while playing, but I ran out of time -- this was made on a very constricted timeline. Another great thing to try for version 2!

cheers :)

I finally finished the first version of my AGS game, Yeti! It's a simple point-and-click adventure game: no inventory, no complicated mouse interaction -- just click and go.

Play as the director of a documentary about Yetis in this experimental adventure game. Capture footage of the intrepid Yeti as it moves from its home in the Himalayas to a sunnier climate. While the player cannot control the Yeti directly, the director often interacts with it in creative and highly silly ways as the story unfolds. The prequel to Metanet Software's upcoming Office Yeti, Yeti shows how the Yeti got its job and its iconic red tie.

Ctrl-Q or Alt-F4 to quit.

It's still pretty rough around the edges, but it was my first time making an adventure game and I really enjoyed the process. I appreciate any and all feedback :) Thanks to all of you here at the forums for your help along the way!

sorry, one more thing -- monkey_05_06, are you the creator of Flashlight? If so, kudos, it's awesome and super easy to use. Thanks very much for your hard work!

oops sorry, yes, you're right, it's a RAR, and that's a great point about WinRAR. I use WinRAR for all my compression/decompression needs as well; I'm not sure how the download got corrupted or why there was no error when I unrar-ed the file, but hey, at least it was an easy fix!

thanks again! :)

I ran a memory check and everything came back fine. Same with the virus scan.
Hmm, I just tried installing AGS on my XP netbook, and got the same error.

Then I tried re-downloading and re-unzipping the Flashlight package, and this time AGS on my Windows 7 machine imported the script without error. That's great! A little confusing, but who cares. I'm just so glad it worked :)

Thanks again for all your help, everyone!

Thanks for your replies!

Unfortunately it seems to happen every time I try to import the script. AGS runs just fine otherwise.

I just rebooted my computer (which is only about 3 months old, it's basically brand new) and has 6GB of RAM, which should be plenty. I have relatively few processes running right now and restarted AGS three times to test, but unfortunately got the same error message each time.

I'll run a virus scan and will try a memory scan as well. Anything else you'd recommend trying?

I'm trying to import the Flashlight module to a little game I'm building. It took a lot of searching to even discover how to do this, so maybe I'm doing it wrong.

here's what I tried:
I right clicked "scripts" and chose "import script", then chose the Flashlight.scm file.

Then, AGS gives this error:

---
An error occurred trying to import the script module. The error details are below.

System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type
'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
at System.IO.BinaryReader.ReadBytes(Int32 count)
at AGS.Editor.ImportExport.ImportScriptModule(String fileName)
at AGS.Editor.Components.ScriptsComponent.ImportScriptModule)String fileName)
---

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help!
