All this profanity makes me think this must be a really interesting game.  ::)

Crapsoft Games presents...

Hired Gun Episode 1: Crash & Burn

The Story:

The lovably inept pirate Hired Gun from the Pardus universe (www.pardus.at) is on his way to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award for Piracy which is totally not a trap, when his ship crashes...on a regular planet!  No, not a strange and mysterious one.  You must help Hired Gun fix his ship so he can make it to the awards in time.  I just want to reiterate this is definitely not a trap.

Background:
Pardus is an online browser game inspired by Elite, basically trade, build, fight, explore space also referred to as "4X".  This game's main character is a player from Pardus, who plays the role of a pirate but whose antics are often tragic and who often falls for incredibly obvious traps.

He also has a tendency to make over the top declarations which also contribute to the tragic hilarity of his character's persona.

In the game, the character Hired Gun plays a Rashkir, a humanoid race of green-skinned warriors.

This game is actually based on a webcomic about Hired Gun by another Pardus player named Peyote.  The game's artstyle is also based on the webcomic which is done in a cheeky, mspaint style.

I am making the game in collaboration with Peyote, who is providing some of the game art as well as concept art and references.  I'm using the concepts and backgrounds he provides me as reference for the rest of the game.  If you look at the screenshots below the crash scene is done by Peyote and the cliff scene was done by me.  The cave scene is also by Peyote.

I'm also doing graphics, the animation, scripting and game design.

The music is provided by Ozzed (www.ozzed.net), a chiptune artist.

General Discussion / Re: Sherlock is Over

I wasn't sure about this show.  I'll have to check it out.

The Sherlock Holmes movies they put out recently with Robert Downing Jr. were complete and utter embarrassments to the Holmes name.  I mean, despite being a long-time Sherlockian I get that they took some artistic license with their portrayal of Holmes and Watson.  Even granting that, they were still complete crap-fests which seems to be standard fair for Hollywood these days.

My favorite portrayal of Holmes remains Jeremy Brett in the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes from 84-94.

Question:  Is the goal of the game to get to the nudity parts ala LSL?

If I could offer some critical advice, I don't think Picard's head is quite shiny enough.  You really need to do a little more justice to Stewart's trademarked dome.

General solution to most computer/peripheral problems seems to be for me, check the cables, update the drivers, restart the computer/router/printer.  One or all three.

Yeah, according to what I read s/he hasn't had any surgeries and is only taking hormone pills off/on.  If you read towards the bottom of page 2 of that article I posted ^^ there is a rather humorous/disturbing(?) story about a certain "fairy" that Jazz was waiting for.

I'll leave quoting that to people who have been on these forums longer than I have.  ::)

I was too lazy to post that somewhere else.

Lol, that actually made me physically laugh out loud not just a standard forum lol.  ::)

General Discussion / Re: Megaupload...dead.

Yeah, this is pretty lame.  If anything, they shoulda gone after Megavideo instead.

Yeah, like Anian said the music was kinda weird.  I woulda used some retro-style or chiptune type music to fit the subject.

But anyway, that's some perty pixeling thar!  I just started spriting again after a long while so it's nice inspiration.

Heya folks!  New AGSer here.  I'm no stranger to adventure/vintage gaming as well as programming, scripting and spriting.

When I was a kid and all my friends had Nintendo and I was the only one in the neighborhood with a Commodore 64 and turning in typed reports with my dot matrix printer which made my teachers suspicious that I was receiving "help" from my parents.  I started programming Basic when I was only 6 years old too.  I was crazy with the books and stuff so I absorbed that stuff pretty quickly.  Back then of course (late 80s) you couldn't google "how to program".

Unfortunately, technology has since leaped ahead and children teaching themselves computer programming has become commonplace and no longer seems to be as awe-inspiring.

I'm actually working on a game right now with another fella who is providing concept art and character sheets.  The game is based on a popular webcomic that he created.  I'm doing the spriting, animating, and pretty much everything else with some input here and there from him.  Game will probably be somewhere between 1 and 2 hours max to complete.  It's sorta just meant to be a joke with a punchline.

Originally, I was going to code my own engine from scratch in C++ but decided I could go third party to cut down the development time a bit since we'll have a lot of graphic work to do as it is.  I scoped out Visionary and Wintermute and was going to go with Wintermute originally but it's woefully under-documented and AGS by comparison seems to have a wealth of information available for it.  If I was trying to do something more high speed I'd probably go with Wintermute but we're doing this old school Sierra style so AGS seems to fit the bill perfectly.

This is a non-commercial project and we're not going for game of the year but just want to make a solid, funny and fun to play game.

Here's a sneak peak.  That's all my sprite/animation work there and like I said my friend provided me with character sheet which it's based off.  I phoned it in with the background because it's just for testing right now.  It's the basic idea but I'll sprinkle some zazz on it for the finished product.

Well, as a parent myself my first reaction is like most to say kids at that age are too young to make decisions like that.

But after reading about his/her/schler's story I don't think she's been coaxed or coached into this.

Also, point of order you guys are a little behind the times.  "Jazz" is now 12+ years old.
