Guess ya people like to stand. lol. Only glaring problem to me is that the office has no chairs...could atleast use one behind the desk. Also.. the door appears to lead directly outside.... like plumit to your death outside... but so do the ones across the street in the window.. is uh, this supposed to be? lol

I'm afraid the proportions on the bottom one are a little too wacky. The sidewalk is wider than the door is tall.. if you cut back the sidewalk... you could move that grate in the street back and it would make those yellow lines in the street more realistic looking.

Good luck :)

I like the style here. Very cool. I have to disagree with big brother though... there is no reason that someone can't change the 'camera angle' as they go room to room... as long as there is something that interconnects those two rooms (i.e. the wall colors are the same, which they are). The 'camera' does not always have to be facing in the same direction, infact, I think it would make the games a bit boring if it always did. How often have you seen a movie where there is only one camera and it's always in the same direction?
In any case.... I do have one crit.. the shirt on the floor of the bedroom could use a litle more depth. It looks very flat. If you can't accomplish that on the floor.. many people like to hang them off a bed or wrapped around a bedpost....

Good luck :)

I must agree with proskrito... these graphics appear a little too intimidating.

As you said, there are not going to be walkable areas or character sprites that would have to match... so that allows you some liberties... However, you may have to add characters that the main character is interacting with.. and they will have to fit the graphics scheme and the colors of that particular background.

However, in adventure games people are looking for environments to explore. While these background images do exemplify 'horror'... they do not seem to contain interactive elements (which are essential to adventure games). They feel very static, as there are no apparent elements to speak to, touch, move, etc.

I do have a question though... could you share how you created that effect of the leaves on the tree?.. I think that looks great and I've always had a problem with trees/shrubs.

I think its not so much the skin color as the way the legs move in the animation with the dancers.

I think overall it was very creative and sure as hell very funny. I liked some of the cinematic split-screen effects you used.

The judge is kind of huge... I understand that you want him to be the 'looming authority figure' in the background.. but still. It seems a little inconsistent with the rest of the characters. Regardless of style, consistency makes a game look more professional.

In any case.. it accomplished the most important part of what a demo should do.. I want to see more. lol. Good luck.

I believe "WOW" is the proper response. I have to agree with Yak... I think the second style has a bit more to offer in the way of detail... but that the first one can be even better if the details are edited in such as:

tree shadow as in the first
the shadows from the lamps to the left and right of the door
some kind of detail or variety in the actual walls (I like how you edited in the bricks)

Also.. for the first one.. something seems 'off' about the windows above the entrance... I guess it is just the open black space.. perhaps a little peek inside would alleviate that.

Either way.. amazing work. I look forward to seeing more.

Perhaps it is just me.. but the left wall appears to be out of perspective. The artwork looks excellent.. but something about the whole left wall feels off and disproportionate.

Well.. since they've already made you aware that it's in the wrong forum we'll just wait for a mod to move it.. hehe... The talking animation looks a little choppy, the door is a bit too big, and I'm personally not too fond of the text interface as opposed to icons... aside from those 3 it looks excellent. ;)

Music is great.. very moody and defines the atmosphere.Graphics are done well. Still confused as to the plot of the game though. =P

Any ways to make furniture look.. eh.. real?
Aside from that any questions, comments, suggestions are welcome  ;)

The final one is very impressive.. however, the light added to the desk seems to just kind of end in a straight line.. doesn't look like it touches down anywhere.

Why aren't they allowed handcuffs?  ???

Back to the rehab thing again, huh?  One of my main points is that Rehabilitation doesn't work, unless they want to change.  Most criminals don't want to change, most don't feel remorse, most don't even think what they have done is wrong.
Rabbit with Fangs Responded:
So back it up. You can't just claim it doesn't work. Find some stats or something.

Actually.. I looked for the statistics on this once before... there are none. There are numerous reasons WHY crimes are committed. Some feel guilty, and some just feel bad they got caught... but there are no clear statistics on this matter and so as always.. it will remain a matter of opinion. However.. it's always been clear that one cannot help a person who doesn't wish to help themselves. Forcing someone into rehab who doesn't want it is a waste of your time, their time, and our money.

I find no moral basis for punishment. Say someone violates an essentially arbitrary rule or law (for the rules are arbitrary). There is no reason why that person deserves punishment. People who insist there is reason, are irrational. Note, this does not mean people should not not be detained and rehabilitated, only that punishment is crap.

And I simply find that naive. Fear of punishment is quite a powerful deterrent. I do, however, agree that it is not really a solution, just a stalemate. In addition, some are beyond rehabilitation or simply not interested in rehabilitation. The best crime deterrent happens before something goes wrong, not after.
