As a matter of fact, the only thing restricting me to MSPaint was my own unwillingness to learn a new program  ;D

But that aside, I have now dove head first into the world of Paintshop Pro, and starting with a pencil sketch in both instances, have redone my original main character sprite (in another thread) and this room.  It's not perfect, but it's much closer to the feel of the game.

PS:  This is not ignoring all your edits and comments, but I just think my imagination was greater than the limitations of MSPaint allow for.

Here's the new Zorg, much more cartoony and easy on the eyes.  This is also my first major leap into Paintshop, and I think it's pretty good.

PS:  Also put one up top for comparison

Thanks for the input.  Some questions

1:  How would I go about making the front of the console to look 3D.  I imagine it'll be with shading, but how exactly?

2:  How do I make that circle on the left wall look like a light.  Even though the shadows on everything else are in the right direction, when you look at the light, it just looks like a circle

Lastly, on that comment about my MSpaint style, it's cause I'm using MSPaint.  Maybe I should ust Paintshop, but it just seems so complicated.  Anywho, thanks again.

This is my first background for my upcoming game (not first ever).  I'm pretty unsure about the shadow behind the filing cabinet, and I hate the ceiling color, but I can't seem to find anything I like.  Anywho, tell me your opinion, it will be much appreciated.

Hi guys, been a while for me.Ã,  Anywho, I'm thinking of starting a light, sci-fi-ish comedy, like space quest but meaner.Ã,  Ã, ;D

Anywho, this is the protagonist for the game, Zorg.

EDIT:Ã, The new version, with the old

I'm just starting on a walk cycle. What you guys think, loveable enough (that's what I'm going for.)

EDIT:
As for the skinny legs and tight pants, it's supposed to be that way.Ã,  That's alien fashion. ;D

Ok, I've made some changes.

-Fixed Perspective on Bed
-Added Wall Border
-Started on Bookshelf (didn't finish for reasons of lazy)
-added some assorted shading, like bed shadow, and cord shadow.

I've included one with and one without shading, so if anyone wants a go at it, they can.
I'm going to begin on antoher now, and I would love some suggestions or requests on the next setting.

I redid the moon light by hand, but kept the black outlines.Ã,  I like the cartoony feel of the outlines, so I kept them.Ã,  Thanks for the input, though. :)Ã,  I also added a little light effect, see if you like it.

I used good ol' MSPaint, but but I'm learning how to use Adobe Photoshop, so that's where the window gradient came from, and the blurry stars.

btw:probably right about the window

Hey guys, I haven't posted for a long time.Ã,  After some deep inner-searching, I find I have neither the time nor the commitment to make a game with AGS, but I thoroughly enjoy making bgs.Ã,  So in order to stay part of the community, I am going to make BGs for you to take and do with what you wish, and who knows, maybe I'll see one of my own creations in a game someday.Ã,  Anywho, here's my first one.Ã,  It's very simple, so tell me if you like it.

I was wondering if it was possible in the Adventure Game Studio engine to make a game in the style of King's Quest 3 and Space Quest 3 with the old nostalgic 16 color graphics and typed commands.  Those were my favorite type of adventure games :)

Thank you all so very much for your advice!  Just one thing, I want your opinion on the shading texture.  I think the door is good, but there is something wrong with the way the side table looks in my second picture.  It looks a little to grainy.  Your opinions please?

That's alright Jack, I forgive you.  Unfortunately, according to my own personal code of conduct, as an act of contrition, you must now drink 12 oz. of rat poison.  Thanks for the apology, and I hope you survive. :)

OK, Im trying a whole new shading method due to reading the tutorial on how not to make things look like plastic.Ã,  What do you think.Ã,  I haven't finished, but I wanted to get the opinion before I finish the whole room.

How about the different shading in the door.Ã,  Which one looks better to an adventure gamers eye?

Also, how would you go about adding depth/perspective to the TV?

Damn.  Please tell me how to edit a post so I don't keep posting.

Oops, I got it now, but I put the wrong one up.  Sorry about all the posts, guys  :-\

OK, I think I got the hang of this upload thing, let me try.

OK, I changed the bed colors due to awkwardness of shadow colors.  I did all four bed post shadows, and tried a few touch ups on the shadows.  I left two different shading styles on the door to see which one is better in the old veterans' opinion.  Oh, I also looked at a few rooms others have made and re-did the perspective to a better, bigger space.  Any more.  I love all your tips and comments!
