Played it: tiny and cute CYOA, nice art and narrated well. Keep gamemaking!

Short stories, Borges and Buzzati being the favourite authors.

Or weird books like Hypnerotomachia Poliphili

Server was changed but this link should keep working. You might want to reregister your nickname in case it was lost!

Thanks for the tip.

General Discussion / Librejam
Sat 20/03/2021 04:53:20
I haven’t found a sticky for game jams, so I post it here.

Librejam is a game jam for libre games (so open source code and assets).
It will start on April 1st and last for 7 days, which is quite convenient to whip up something quick.

I have partecipated in the first edition (202012); as soon as realised AGS is effectively free software too I thought "maybe other forum members can be interested too".

edit: chat channel at freenode

Nice game. Is there only one path for each character or can they do things differently?
The latter â€" at least for dialogue choices â€" and imho adds much to immersion.

Congratulations to everyone in the team: writing and art are superb. If you can stomach the gore, one of the best productions in AGS.

Very enjoyable experience, UX (gui, bugs) needs some love, superb characters, scary enough: I will eagerly wait for the final version!

Getting yourself acquainted with the Odyssey and the Iliad â€" even if in a shallow manner â€" gives you a body of references which will help you understand, experience and enjoy a trove of artistic works. The influence Homer has had on the western cultural fabric is so pervasive that I can name off the top of my head at least a dozen «things» (among movies, books, songs, operas, computer games, product labels, a server name, so many paintings etc.) I "participated in" in the last month that have a direct connection (mostly character references, but not only) with those two books.
The achievement is so immense that is difficult to even put it into scale: towering and extremely popular writers (Virgil, Austen, Tolstoj, Cervantes, Rilke, Camus…) â€" their tales inextricably part of our collective spirit â€" do not come close to Homer (maybe One Thousand and One Nights).
On top of that (and themes of such a narrative significance that are still being discussed today) you have: tests, friendship, betrayals, ominous gods, assorted violence, passion, laments & some joy. So yeah, it seems to me an excellent bang for the buck.

Thank Zeus, because the above mentioned ubiquity, one does not need a willing professor to discover Homer by themselves (and awaken the interest in reading).
Nobody will die by axing the Iliad from the curriculum, but I would argue it is a mistake.

For future "pick of the month"s, let me dump this small blurb for My father’s secret.

Abandoned by your father as a child, you finally find the house where he lives. You enter the secluded place with questions and grudges, but you will soon discover that the truth is far gloomier than what you can handle. Find your way through yours and your father's life in this spooky FMV game.

I will spam a mibbit link to the chat too, since Kiwi is lately bloated and not at all responsive.

Spoiler
I managed to build an extension cord and get the keycard, but then I walked around for 15 minutes aimlessly and lost the game. I'll give it another go later.

Just so you know - I don't think the player can exit the 'open book' screen in the one room. I had to restart the game because of this.

Awesome first game attempt!

Spoiler
The cord will be needed to power up something, once you will find a power source it will become clearer.
As for the book: you can turn page/exit by clicking top left/top right part of it

I reached another two endings and they were both good, well done!

I feel I missed something but I do not know what to do… I will replay it later tonight.

The atmosphere and pace are very good, you should be proud of yourself.

I have been playing a few minutes of this and it is fantastic, GUI is friendly (much friendlier than a plain text game) and the animations are superb and scary and add depth to the game.
Excellent job Postmodern!

I am just dropping in to say I have played all of your games and this is one of the best MAGS month I recall, on par with the "One Room, One Month" one.
Faboulous creations, pat your backs!

Chris (CJ) used to pay the hosting fees. Not sure if he still does

For a good while it was hosted by Peder (AGSA).

Hello, I wanted to play The Frozen Shore, but when I click the "Download" button I am redirected to the AGS homepage.

It took me a while to understand why: I was browsing with Javascript off.

That is a surprising behaviour: I would prefer a graceful degrading (telling the user "You cannot do this without Javascript on") or even a non-working button.
As now it makes it look like the developers are trolling us.  :=

I second every suggestion made here and also will also push MidiEditor as the simplest, most sensible midi editor you can get your paws on.

Steps to reproduce:

1. go here
2. select "Only Include Games with at Least 2 Cup Ratings"
3. click "find me some games"

Results include games like "A Cat's Night 2 by PuNKKoMmANDO77", which haven't got any rating (panel or community)
