I've tested this beauty and I hope people will play it. It takes an unexpected turn in the end and from a mediocre game it turns to a really unusual and a great experience!

Cheers (laugh)
And thanks again for testing!

I actually rather like the palette.

Arj0n pointed out to me that it's actually pretty CGA-ish, which I hadn't thought of at all.
I guess it's really just ultra-classical with a 32-bit twist.
Computer game palettes come round full circle (laugh)

Congrats on the release!

I must get round to giving this a try... though I have to admit the colour palette is freaking me out a little. :grin:

Thanks!

Is the palette really that weird? :-D

Make it return value between 0 and (MAX - MIN), then add MIN to random result.
E.g. you need value between 10 and 20, do "Random(10) + 10".

Aahhh yes, of course. So simple, and yet so very very hard for my brain to grasp (laugh)
Thanks!

So, the Random command returns a random number between 0 and MAX.
But how would I make it return a random number between some specified minimum value higher than 0 and MAX?

I wrote a module, give it a try: click

The flies don't strictly stay within the stated area, but as soon as they leave it, they will fly back towards it.
Just set the area occupied by the light source like its a rectangular hotspot and they will circle it.

Those fireflies look really nice! :-D
Thank you for sharing that! However, I'd like to draw my own flies and have them as objects, so I think I'll have to go with the tween module...

EDIT: Ok, try this for example:
Code: ags

function on_mouse_click(MouseButton btn)
{
    oFireFly.TweenX(1.0, mouse.x, eEaseInCircTween);
    oFireFly.TweenY(1.0, mouse.y, eEaseLinearTween);
}

This should change Y coordinate at linear speed, and X coordinate in "circular" speed, which will result in curvy move.

BTW, I found this demo which may be used to visualize tween styles: http://gizma.com/easing

Thank you for the clarification!
And the demo is really helpful for me, since I'm having a hard time visualizing the mathematical functions :-D

As usual... do you have a mirror? Gamejolt doesn't work for me. :-\

I have set up a mirror: https://www.mediafire.com/?aa2vh4a9dpolguw

Let me know if that works for you!

Do you agree with my analysis of the character or was I off from what was intended?

Well, I never think there's ONE valid analysis of anything I do, but your thoughts are definitely interesting.
I think it's a very common thing, not least for myself, to put your energy in the 'wrong places' so to speak, and yes, that very often leads to rather pointless living in the end. I agree very much with you that the protagonist of my game is largely in the dark about what truly matters in life.
And then I have to remember the saying that all the characters you create are mirrors of yourself (laugh)

I was NOT expecting that...

Thank you so much for your nice words!
This really makes all those hard hours of work worth it :-D

I'm so happy that my game has touched you, that's all I can really ask for.

Regarding speech skip, you CAN actually skip speech by pressing Return :-D
You can also use W, L, P, and U to select the verb modes.
Those are all in the manual PDF included in the game folder, but perhaps I should have included a small controls section on the start screen as well...

Thank you for taking the time to review my game :-D

Lovely little game - stylish artwork and colour scheme and, while few in number, the sound and music are very effective at contributing to the atmosphere. Simple but effective plot too.

Will PM some further feedback.

Thanks!

I'm glad you liked it :-D
