Question One:

How can I make something happen when two characters get within a certain range of eachother?

Forget the second question. Idiot that I am, I fixed the problem seconds after posting this.

The timer idea is a good idea, but a little flawed. What about the people that lurk until they feel they're able to post in the correct manner? They read the rules, use the search function, and then register to post? I think a 7-day timer would really tick off new members, especially if they've already read the rules and such. It might even stunt growth.

In canadian pennies.

Anyways, I hope I didn't offend anyone too badly. My opinion still stands, but I'll try to use more tact in the future.

I used  to obsess over how I ate my cereal. I could only eat two pieces at a time, otherwise I'd throw out the entire bowl and pour another.

I also refuse to drink water from the same glass twice without washing it.

I can't just start a new level in HL2, I have to play all the way through the game to get to that level, otherwise it feels like cheating.

Oddly, I haven't been stamped with OCD. Maybe I'm lucky. Maybe I'm just a freak.

QuoteAnother serious concern of mine is the Production forum: There are far too many locked threads! I don't mean in this way the Darth Mandarb should lay more slack on people bending the rules, I mean there has to be SOME way of getting it to peoples heads whether they should be posting or not! It's absolutely ridiculous when you come to think about it!

You really have to admire his endurance. If I had to do what he does, I'd have cracked long before. Despite his best efforts, some fool will always try to introduce himself, post a game with no screenshots or information, or ask for team members.

Poor guy. When I release my game, I'm gonna send that poor chap toÃ,  Nirvana by posting ten screenshots. And a cheap trailer. And a working link.

This is the best AGS game that's come out in a long time. In my view, very pick-of-the-month worthy.

As for a prequel, it would be cool to see how the trio forms.

I had Namonia (sp?) when I was four, does that count?

I also have this wierd condition (not really an illness, but still painful and annoying to me and those in my path) in which my mind "sticks," usually after awakening from a bizarre dream. I'll wake up and have this one thought in my mind, and I'm totally unable to stop thinking about it. I literally can't do anything but overanalyze that one thought.

This just happened to me again this morning. I couldn't eat, sleep, or drink, so what did I do? Went online and posted on this forum and pissed people off, only to be embarassed at myself later.

I wonder if they have a name for it. If not, it could be called "Blidumbasszersyndrome."

Not only have you (probably on purpose) totally missed the point here...

Quote Quoth myself: That said, It still pisses me off to have to listen to all the messed-up crap at school, and it really pisses me off when the few people that can "handle it" say something along the lines of, "it's just the immature people that get messed up by it, don't make a fuss about it."

Those "immature people" consist of nearly everyone in my entire cursed school, then. GTA, GTA, GTA. Do these people ever go outside? They aren't gangsters. They're sociopathic failures. And they'll grow up to be the "mature" people of tommorow.

This is why I don't like GTA. Obviously, nobody agrees with me and the entire forum now utterly despises me so I'll just leave.  Surely I am the Lord of Unpopular Opinions.

QuoteLike I said before it's people who are too immature to be playing the game that will act like asses because of playing it.

I agree completly. That said, It still pisses me off to have to listen to all the messed-up crap at school, and it really pisses me off when the few people that can "handle it" say something along the lines of, "it's just the immature people that get messed up by it, don't make a fuss about it."

It's too late to do anything about it, I guess, so I might as well shut up and leave you all alone. My apologies for digging up an old topic.

So...you do know what I'm talking about.

What the flip are you on about, then? Sheesh. You've experienced it.

QuoteThat's just stupid, IMO. Why people would go mad over a virtual plane crashing into a virtual building I don't understand. After all, It's just a game.

You'd hate Half-Life 2, then. There's no friendly fire, and you can't kill your squadmates.

Of course, there's a reason for it, namely, it would break the plot. Not showing an aircraft exploding, though...that's just stupid. If you're going to play the game for six hours only to crash, you should at least get to see yourself burst into flames.

Caught me there. Let me rephrase.

I do think both games suck, as in, I wouldn't enjoy playing them and neither would anybody I'm on good terms with, but I won't deny they are very high-quality and well-made. San Andreas had no less than 300 voice actors, you know.

If my best friend were to go out and purchase a copy, I wouldn't say anything. If said friend started acting like a gangster shortly afterwards, and having no prior history of doing so, I'd blame the game.

I've known two normal (as in, easygoing, pleasant) people turn...mean...in the course of a week. All they ever do now is play GTA, talk about GTA, diss anybody that doesn't like GTA, etc. There really is such a thing as being too young for a game.

Obviously I'm preaching to the wrong choir. The average age on these forums is what, 20? I'm talking about 15-16 year old Freshmen and Sophmores. Hotspot, you probably have no idea/have never experienced what I'm talking about.

For the record, I never said it wasn't a good game. PCGamer gave it an Editor's Choice a month or so ago. That said, I wouldn't touch it with an electronic, remotely-operated-from-antartica-fifty-foot pole.

I just hate the way it seems to spawn gangster-wannabes, and the game's premise disgusts me.

QuoteThat is one of the most ridiculous posts I've seen on this forum. I know fifteen or so people who have played GTA games and none of them are even slightly "gangster". None of them ever "spout off lines" from the game.
My guess is the people who do are too young (and immature) to be playing the games anyway.

Because we deal with different groups of people...makes my post ridiculous? No matter. Just because our experiences differ is no reason to flame.

And I'm talking about 15-16 year old teens. Trust me, it doesn't get any more annoying than that.

QuoteOne less brain I guess. Oh well, they will find that cure for you one day.

Had to edit that in, didn't you? Unneccessary, but not unprovoked. You would be a GTA:SA fan, yes?

QuoteJesus Christ, it's a parody.

At the risk of becoming a walking cliche:

I know that. You know that. But they, the average joe gangsta-wannabe, don't know that.

Anyways, ever seen/read/pretended to read the play, "Merchant of Venice?" Back in it's day, the general populace thought Shakespeare was mocking Shylock and his ilk, when really he was almost sympathizing with him.

Sometimes people misinterprete things.

Some of you think these forums are bad/spamridden? In comparison to their counterparts around the world, these forums are gold! You won't find more mature and thoughtful posts anywhere else on the net. AGS is home to the last great old-school forum, in my humble, unrespected opinion.

Take a look at this. If the General Discussions forum ever becomes anything close to this, I will personally eat the moderators alive.

http://swgb.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=t&fn=11

Now, these forums have completly degenerated into a massive flamewar, although you might not know it by just looking at it. The goal has become "getting the last word" and "churning out the next witty retort before the other guy does."

http://www.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=t&fn=1

This one doesn't even have a purpose, since VAC cheaters aren't unbanned. I think it's just there for the sake of comedy.

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=35

This last one is the worst yet. Be sure to wear your stupidity-proof HEV suit.

http://aom.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=t&fn=15

All in all, AGS is the only forum I still visit. And compared to others like it, it really isn't that bad. At all.

Oh, just think what's possible with this. You could even make a game recreating the chaos of Wall Street.

*Shudder of geeky joy*

Or not. But you get the idea.

Awesomeness, Strazer. Pure awesomeness.

Both games suck. Only a gangstatard would enjoy them.

They spawn gangsta wannabes who copy lines directly from both series and spout them off during school. Damn, if I wasn't such a pathetic stick I'd rip out their brains and donate them to science in a last-ditch attempt to cure stupidity.

Bah.
