Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Holidays

OK, I actually read the forum rules this time 'round and I think I know what to do...
I need (more like want) a person to write a story for my game Holidays. I could do it, but I kinda suck at creative writing and don't want to waste a lot of my time on something that I will end up trashing. Here is a basic plot summary so far:

You are a kid who gets locked out of their house on Christmas morning, and your family "accidentally" didn't notice you were outside banging on the door, so they don't let you in. You have to find a key or locksmith to get back inside. But along the way, you discover a multi-murder scene in one of the local businesses and should find out what's going on. That's about it so far.

So far... we have been drawing rooms, programming basic stuff, and adding hotspots and messages and whatnot. I still need a path the character is going to take through the game and an actual story. I also could use a character animator, since as you can tell from our previous games (Hotel Hansen and Halloween); we're not the greatest at drawing people in general. Any help is appreciated, just PM me with what you can provide.

Here is a screenshot of one of the businesses:

Hey! OK, I finally decided to make a real sequel to the Hansen Hotel, and this time we're actually putting in an effort to make it a half-way challenging game. I'm reading up on the help file (there's some good stuff in there!) and making a lot of neat stuff. We're also re-coloring every single room in the game to make it look better. Unfortunately, I am still incapable of drawing animations, so would anyone be interested in helping to draw Character frames for me? Actually, I want to cut back on any work on me as possible, so ANY help is appreciated... just email me (MadMan@MadManCreations.com) and tell me what you can provide to our little project. I could use testers, music people, script whizzes, you name it! I also need a snappy title for the game. Something like "Hansen Hotel 2: The Search for More Money", only relevant to the game, and not a rip off of Spaceballs. Here is a before and after shot of the games Hotel Hansen and Hansen Hotel 2:

Also, since we finally stopped doing nothing and decided to work on our games more, we're going to finish Holidays, but it's also a long ways from being finished, so again, any help is appreciated.

It was also recently brought to my attention that I forgot to label where two candies are in the guide. In the Storage Room in the upstairs of the house, there is two candies you get when you click on the vacuum. I didn't put that in  the guide, so if you only get 48 and can't find the rest, that's where they are. I would just re-do the guide, but that's a lot of un-necessary work.

Sorry about the slight delay on the response on that one, but apparently my crap-hole host server went down today, but it's back up now. The WT is at this link on my site: Halloween Walkthrough
That link should work, if not, something has gone horribly wrong and I need to fix some stuff.

Actually, there was no "official" sequel, but the unofficial sequel is Halloween. It's a completely different game, but you end up having to pay your friends $200 bill at the Hotel Hansen after you sell the bum your candy and inventory items, so they tie together in the end. It's kinda cheesy, I know. Sorry! Maybe I should make a sequel to the game, eh? Anyone wanna help me? I don't want to do all the work myself again. Email me at madman@madmancreations.com if you want to contribute something.

I'm pretty sure you can't save or load games in Hotel Hansen. I'm not 100% on that, because I don't remember what I did way back then, and I don't want to start up my crappy computer to go check. I think if it WAS possible, it would be F5 to save, and F7 to load. I recall something about it would be too easy (yes, even easier than it is now) if you could save it, so I disabled it... I wanted the player to have to play all the way through with no stops. Halloween, on the other hand, you CAN save and load, but apparently nobody knows how, so here it is: Save- Ctrl+S, and Load- Ctrl+L, just like every single other windows program. I guess Load is actually Ctrl+O, but you get the idea.

Use the B.R. (Boiler Room) key that is found in the street in front of the Hotel on the uhh... Boiler Room. The stairs are blocked off and can't be used.

PS- WOW! I haven't posted anything here for, like, a year now!

Whoa... calm down there! I only put it up cause I thought it would be cool. I'm not trying to steal your members or anything. My forum is about my organization, not about adventure games.

And I am working on a new theme. I'm just using that one while I work on the new one.

OK OK... I got an even better one now. It's just like this one, but it's a little different in a couple of ways. Look at it now:

Hey I just got my site up and running smoothly, and I decided to add my OWN forum, similar to this one. You should check it out and become members there. It's still kinda screwed up with the colors and options and stuff, so just ignore any screw-ups you see. If you have any suggestions for it, just post them either here, there, or e-mail me at madman@madmancreations.com.

I want to make the game score like the players money. I have it all figured out except for the part where you can buy things. How do I get it so that if the player has 250 or more it lets him "buy" something. Here is what I have so far:

if (game.score ==250) AddInventory(4);
else {DisplayMessage (8); StopDialog();}

But that only works if they have exactly 250. If the player is above or below it gives the message that he does not have enough money. There's probably some simple solution that I dont know of or something.

I used to suck badly too, and I guess I still kinda do, but the trick we use for some of our rooms is to draw the basic background, then we take a real picture of something and then cartoon-ize it, like bedroom in the Halloween, or the mayors house in our upcoming game "Holiday".

Here is an example before the process is finished.
