Great game. Quirky art style and the random speech bubbles for non-essential interactions were great. I especially loved when you tried to put something in the lake. "The leeches in the spring have no use for that item" made me laugh out loud.

One bug I found, and it kind of sucked because I was playing the whole way through so I didn't save:

at the end, if you put the rose on Sophia Hapgood's grave, you can't pick it back up.

Other then that, I thought the game was great, especially the writing.

That was an amazingly novel concept for an adventure game, and the execution was great too, the way the items don't stay. Absolutely great. The only thing I can say is, the way you finally escape is a little weak. It's... far fetched, that that would work. (Trying not to give anything away.) Other then that, the puzzles were all logical and well done. I really liked

I'm confused... when the game starts, what town are you in? The ghost town?

Well, no-one's complained before... :P I'll put up some bg artwork if I'm bored enough.

Well then it's high time I started!

Bah dum tish. But seriously, he does have a point, the Quit, Save, and Load screens don't look so different that they all need to be represented, and not show any of the character or background art of the actual game.

Has anybody given any thought to just how much work this is going to be? Making a full game in 2D is a task many of us have trouble finishing. Throwing 3d characters in the mix  is gonna make the task only bigger and bigger. Building character models, boning and skinning, keyframing and animating ... it's a huge task.

Your limitations aren't everyone's limitations. Just because you or I couldn't make use of a feature doesn't mean the feature shouldn't exist. A great program like AGS should at least intend to allow everyone to work at their full potential. Allowing someone who's better then you at something to shine doesn't reduce any sort of functionality of AGS for those who arent using that particular advanced funtionality. It's not like if 3D was added, all the sudden he's going to remove 2D and now everyone has to get with the program. It just opens a new feature for 3D artists.

What about if our avatar is animated? Will it be a flipbook nametag?

lol

Ok, not to be lame or nuffin, because I can read instructions, but my cookies are never working and I never stay logged in, and I'm not sure anyone gets my PMs, so, Mr. Colossal I'm down for the Mittenification. Also, I hear there's going to be an Atari, I could bring an Gamecube, PS2, and an Xbox that has an Atari, NES, SNES, and a GBA emu and a few hundred roms... or Atari. It's up to you guys. Anyhow, PM me what I needs to know (or IM me on AIM: ohehness, or email me: davis@pmind.com). I'll be flying in to Jersey and then driving up with Phil Reed, so we'll need two release forms please, and a coke. Um, yeah, super size it.

edit---
And I'm trying to get up with Evanwolf too, but not sure if my PMs are going thru.

How come all you people think just because someone tries something new and innovative in an advenure game, it'll be crap?

Open up your minds!!!

OMFG n00b anything that isnt what im exactly used to is lame and stupid GEEZ

Where can I find out when it be? I gotta PM Evanwolf and hook up with his fine ass, too. I'm such a procrastinator.

I think he was joking too, but I'm not sure. Either way, it's so hard to tell how someone meant something to sound on a message board, or online chat.

I meant 'Well that is your opinion sir, and while I certainly do not agree I will defend to the death your right to say it!' to be "read" to sound as if a foppish troubadour were saying it, like the fat moustached chef on the Simpsons who always says, "Mmmmmyyyyyyeeeesssss!!"

Also, another fine point. If he had said, "Dude Comix Zone is like my favorite game, and I think finding a way to translate it's gameplay into AGS would be double awesome! Also a Captain Planet game would be triple awesome!" I think people would have reacted differently.

Well that is your opinion sir, and while I certainly do not agree I will defend to the death your right to say it!

As for the game, it was a lame Genesis side scroller where you A B buttoned your way across a "panel," where the background was some comicy looking environment and when you reached the white line, you just jumped it into the next panel, where you would fight some more bad guys. A la Double Dragon, Battle Toads, Marky Mark's Funky Fighting Adventure featuring the Fighting Funky Bunch... you know, the old classics.

Quote from: Zor© on Sat 15/05/2004 20:52:50Flippin hell, what is wrong with you people?

This is the one thing I friggin hate about the AGS community, just because someone who happens to have been around shorter than you have, doesn't mean you have every right in the world to go and rip on them for every bit of idea they try and conribute...

The one thing I hate is how touchy feely some of you are. The dude said something stupid and no one told him he was great for it. Big deal. Just because someone doesn't like someone's idea doesn't mean they hate that person and would kick them if they had the chance. The way everyone rushes to everyone's side when people don't like their idea makes this place feel like a police state. Freedom of speech should go both ways, if I can say, "Dude I'm going to make a game about a rabbit in a suit and a small dog and they'll solve crimes," and you're allowed to say, "I think you're a beautiful person for suggesting that," someone else should have the right to call me an idiot.

Their mousepads aren't too shabby.

Well, sucks to not be me then. HAW!

But I think it's a fun little distraction.

I'm sure a lot of y'all have played this, but for the few who haven't. It's a neat little flash based adventure.

I got the thruts of this... Who do I give credit to if and when I use this in my game? To Evil?

To yourself.
#17
When is it? Also, Evanwolf, are you funna go, coz if so we should go together.

Aww! I wanted to say something that could be considered harsh too, but now I just can't.

No, but seriously, basically your first post was "Dude, wouldn't it cool if there was a game with centaurs? I love centaurs. I think there should be more centaurs in games."

Now you're asking what everyone thinks about your idea. Here's what might get you a little better results:

"I've got this idea for a game. The main character will be a centaur, named _______. He's part of a roving band of centaur pirates and ruffians (and rapscallions, even) who roam the desert robbing caravans. However, one day as they're robbing..."

Just saying, "Wouldn't a game about centaurs be like, mad sweet," isn't really... a game proposal, you know? Not to harsh your mellow, just saying.

Thank you. You're a capitol gentleman.

They did that in the central room of the alien complex in The Dig, the room underground right after you got teleported to the other planet from the asteroid.

Here's what I'm wondering, does AGS have a loop background feature? I mean, once you've walked from one edge of the screen to the other, does AGS have a setting to allow it to repeat? If not, isn't this whole conversation kind of moot? And if so, then isn't that feature's inclusion in AGS make this conversation... old hat? I mean, just to say that, if the feature were written into the program, it must have been put there to anticipate just such an occasion... right?
