There are a lot of gamemaking engines around, yeah. Gamemaker, RM2k(3), IKA, Sphere, Verge, RPGTK, Clickteam, and of course AGS, and lots more.

I had RM2k (and RM2k3), but got rid of it, just because it was so... pointless. I now use Gamemaker and AGS, but mostly Gamemaker.

Awesome, this reminds of the good ol' times we had with our administator at GW... and still have.

Half-eaten happy meals scattered everywhere are a good addition, along with some gaming magazines and burnt CDs containing RM2k and Soldat.

Well, I'll see what comes out best.

About the Discworld template, I've got it. No need for that now. Well, I really some input on the story now, I think it rather lacks. Any input on how it should go on would also be nice, it useful to hear other people's ideas.

Looks really nice. Just two things with the sprite, though -- rather the lively fellow, isn't he, jumping in place like that? Unless he's going to run all the time, I suggest letting him go down, instead of up. It really looks like he's jumping, and I don't think that was intended.
Also, his mouth looks like it's hanging open. It a rather 'awed' expression.

And when they fine you for pirating CDs, abslutely nothing goes to the author of the CD.

If that isn't smart, nothing is. I'm going to apply for a job there.

Well, it's usually useful to first write down exactly what the game is about, and what the goal is.
Then you could set out loose scenes and events, and get the right order, and fill in some holes in the storyline.

Quote-Bobby finds sword
-Bobby shows to dad
-???
-Bobby to prison
-Bobby escapes
-???
-Bobby finds church
-etc.

After that, you'd just work it out when making the game, at least, that's what I do. It's also useful to make it like a film script, like so:

QuoteBobby: I must escape!
(walks around cell)
Bobby: I got it! I'll spoon my way out this prison!
(picks up spoon and start digging)

Silly, they weren't ripe.

WIT!

I agree with DGMacphee though.

QuoteGod, how on earth did ShimbleShanks get itself frozen again so quickly?
Well, with all the files being downloaded, it's no suprise, I guess.

Anyway. I finished the walking animation, but I can't decide between these two. The first 'resets' to the standstill everytime, which looks better, but isn't really realistic (the basic concept of walking is in fact falling, so regaining your balance after every step doesn't really work).
Here they are:

Ã,  Ã,

2x:

Ã,  Ã,

Any criticism on the story?

EDIT: Thanks for pointing that out, LT.

I believe there currently is a discworld template, do a quick search of the forums.
Well, I already did. There was a topic about award-winning games, but there was no link to the template. I also searched the main site, still nothing.

QuoteI like the story and the char, but wouldnt it be a little hot to wear dark colors in india
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe blue is also weared by nomads in the Sahara. Also, in imperial Britain, people didn't knew that much. Well, he has a hood and cape, so that should keep him clear of sunburn.

EDIT: I even searched Google, and found the link, but his account is frozen. Does anyone has it on their computer, or uploaded somewhere else?

Well, it's all hold a bit together by the "I don't really know what happens next but let's do this" glue, and that's not really a good thing.
And how does reopening the portal destroys the world? Do they need some kind of huge explosion to generate enough gravity for a black hole? Did this also happened to their world? Why do they fight? Why did this accident happen anyway?
There's a lot of plotholes.

What happened? Did they show, but not animate? Try fiddling around with the animation properties. Or did they just not appear? Some hosts don't allow direct-linking, I suggest using http://www.imageshack.us/ .

I agree. If you have broadband you should set the cache down to 1 MB NOW! Just click Internet Options and turn it down! Saves lots of space and you won't know the difference!
I don't often use the C:\ drive, but when it gets full, there's an automatic pop-up for a disk clearup. But yeah, that's a way around it too.

I've played a game, and when you died, you read this...

"Don't worry, it's all natural... no, it was never ment to be like this."

Thus, saying that death comes to us all, but that it wasn't ment to come already, for the purpose of the game is to play all the way through it. You could get some ideas from this.

Unless it's some vast ocean, I'd expect to see at least some vague dark shapes at the bottom, to represent the, well, bottom.

Rest looks fine, especially like what you did with the bubbles 'n all.

These look really nice. The only thing I can spot wrong in the new pictures is that their legs seem a bit too short (just one or two pixels up would be enough).
I like your style. Especially the mustache.

Well, maybe I'm just biased because I could never get sprites bigger than 32 pixels to look right.

First of all, I would like to note that I'm just a beginner with AGS -- I don't really know what I can do with it, but I've played some good games made with it. I'm posting to get some criticism on my ideas for an adventure game.

First off, the story. You, Richard Amadeus Cuie, a British explorer, take a cargo ship to India to take samples of species living in Indian mainland.
You safely reach the harbor, and set out to buy equipment and hire men to carry your luggage. You do not know you are secretly followed by misschievous natives that have heard of your plans, and want to prevent you from doing so.
When you are ready, you travel into the jungle searching for undiscovered plants and animals. You see a strange yellow lizard, which runs away when you approach, and follow it. It leads to a dead end, and you find out it was just a bait, to lure you away from your group. You hear screaming, coming from your camp, and you are suddenly jumped by one of the natives. You manage to shake him off, and knock him out cold on a rock.
When you return, you see your crew lying dead, and your possesions taken. Only one survived, by hiding in the bushes, and managed to save some equipment, like a compass and food rations to survive for at least three days.

Well, that's what I got so far, and writing more wouldn't be that much of a bother, since I got enough ideas.
Now, onto the image -- it's a sprite of Richard, sideview.

Comments, criticism, it's all always welcome.

Now, last point -- I have a request. For this game I'm planning a Discworld-like system. For the ones that aren't familiar with this game:
In Discworld, there were only two kind of interactions. 'Examine' (left mouse button), and 'use' (right mouse button). Both would also be used as 'walk to', with exception if you would 'examine' an object, in that case you would stay still.
Also, there was a little object following you around carrying your stuff, Luggage (and, in my case, the last surviving aid). 'Using' him would bring up your inventory (also, using yourself would bring up a smaller inventory for the places where your aid isn't present). And of course there was a 'main menu', that would have things like save, load and exit.

Now, I would really like someone to recreate this as a template for AGS, to be used in my game and possibly that of others if they have any use for it. I have too little expierience with AGS, and coding in general.
I can't offer much more than a 'thank you' and a place in the credits, but it would be greatly appreciated.

Alright. Nearing the end of this post, I would like to say that you shouldn't be too soft on criticising, for this isn't altogether my very first storyline I thought of, and neither is the sprite.

To the question, yes, they can. Most of my friends are male, anyway. For one, the share my kind of humor. I also don't have any 'special feelings' towards any male, since I'm lesbian. It all depends on the person though.
