Generally the backgrounds look interesting, not boring like mine usually. You've used colors nicely and there are a lot of details especially in the office pic.

The video store, however, looks a bit strange. What't the hole on the floor? And why have you used textures on some surfaces and haven't on some? Looks kind of strange. Furhtermore, personally I wouldn't use noise on the sky.

Anyways, the game looks potential, hopefully we'll hear about this in the future.

General Discussion / Re: your best jokes!

Here goes:

A boy comes to his father and asks:"Dad, can you tell me how the society works? I need to know this for school." Pleased to see his son is doing something else than playing video games the father makes up an example:"Well sonny, society reminds alot like our family: I represent economical power for I go to work and bring money home. Your mother is like the congress, she decides what we use this money for. And then there is your nanny, she does all the work here in the house, so you could say she's the labor force. Because we spend money for your wellbeing, you represent the public. And finally, your baby brother is like the future of the country."

The boy is confused because of all the information but assures the dad he has understood. So the night comes and the boy goes to bed. However, in the middle of the night he happens to awake for he has to visit the loo. On his way he passes his little brothers room. The poor baby has soiled himself and is crying out loud. Well, the boy decides to go and wake her mother up. He tries and tries, but the mother just keeps on sleeping. Being frustrated the kid goes back to his room to sleep. While he passes the nannys room, he sees his father in action with her in bed. His dad also notes him and shows him to go away. Now the boy is truly confused and just goes back to sleep.

The next day after school the father comes to the boy and asks:"Well, were you able to explain how the society works?" "Yes", the boy replies:"I understood it perfectly: the congress sleeps while the economical powers fuck the labor, nobody cares about the public, and everyone ignores the fact that the future of the country is overall covered with shit."

[Edit] Here's another one:

There's a circus in town and in the middle of a fantastic show the announcer says:"In the next part we want everyone in the audience to be as quiet as possible. The next performer is going to need all the possible concentration so we're also switching off almost all the lights." So the whole stadium is all quiet and dark except for a single spotlight in the middle of the tent. In the spotlight there is but one little stool. A moment passes, then a man appears from the darkness, sits on the stool and pulls his pants down. Without a warning the man starts to masturbate. The shocked audience watches quietly remembering the words of the announcer. The man keeps on masturbating as time passes. 5 minutes and going. 10 minutes. Finally, after fifeteen minutes of intense masturbation one spectator rises up and shouts:"For the love of god, stop it, will you!" The man in the spotlight jumps up still holding his privates, looks around nervously and says :" Is there someone out there?"

The Rumpus Room / Re: The MSPaint game

Dang. I was late.
Next, as DragonRose proposed: "I want to stay home and have fun!"

I've seen the film on TV some years ago. It was quite funny. What I found interesting though is that the censorship on German television is very strict about blood and gore. Still they make films like this, wierd.. I doubt they've never shown this one on German network.

The game looks very promising and interesting. The plot seems to be quite original and the art is personal.

When might we be expecting to see this piece finished?

Off topic:

Piraatlife4me,

may I assume TMNT stands for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the grates action figures ever? For some reason I remember their worst enemy Crang (or Krang or something) was a some sort of a slime blob. I think he lived under surface in a some kind of a moving hi-tech laboratory. And then there was the Shredder... Oh, the good times..

Again thanks for your comments.

I did some fixing, but I'm in a hurry, so I'll upload the improved version maybe tomorrow or monday. Anyways, I somehow had time to make another one. Here goes:

And a large version:

Yep, the doors suck and there could be a little more of everything. Yet I hope you like it!

Heh, thanks for the comments.

QuoteYou might want to add a window.

I've thought about this, but the room is supposed to be very sterile and maybe even depressing (like the plant).

QuoteAs for the textures themselves, I like them, except for the one on the bed and carpet, it's a bit too bright and eye hurting.

True, I'll do something about right away.

QuoteYou may want to move the carpet so that you can't see the other side of it

A great idea! I'll see what I can do about it.

I'm not sure if I want to add the ceiling, after all, wouldn't that make the room a little bit too small, even claustrophobical? Although it should be a depressing room.. Hmm.. I'll think about it..

Tanks for the comments.

Actually the door is pretty ok sized for a character I'm going to use. That means those other objects are maybe too large.. Damn..

In fact I didn't use the same texture for walls and the floor. I generated a texture for  walls with photoshop and got another texture from the net for the floor (it should be marble).

And yes, true, it is somewhat blurry.. Maybe that's why all the furniture doesn't seem to fit in..

What do you mean the room is dull?!?! There's the plant and everything! No, seriously, I'll add objects as soon as I come up with use for them (in the game that is). Oh, and it should be a little basement style. It's going to be a prison like room.

Critics' Lounge / How about this background?
Thu 06/05/2004 16:29:10
Phew. Some 4.5 hours it's been, but I finally made it (yet the bg is not finished). The very first background I've uploaded here, so please be gently with your C&C.

You might want also click here to see the same image twice as big.

My own comments:
- needs more furniture, when I make up some cool puzzles it'll be easier to add appropriate objects..
- some parts are maybe a bit too bright
- that desk thing and the closet left to it might need some saturizing
- psychedelic painting will be replaced with a portrait as soon as I come up with some characters

This background might appear in a game I've been about to begin to work on.

Yay! Liberty of speech! That's the greatest thing in the USA! I just can't help myself loving the self-cencorship of those hippocrats. Remember the tv show that was about to broadcast the names of the soldiers died in Iraq? The tv network banned it in some major cities (according to Conan O'Brien show, not a joke though).

Look what happened to Stupid White Men.

I've got that book and man, was I ever happy not to live in the USA after reading that..

I've also seen Bowling for Columbine, and frankly, I don't think he has made anything up for the film. I think all the sources are awailable incase you want to check it out.

I wonder if the presidential election will be as dirty as last year, as described in Stupid White Men...

Hello. I've been using AGS for a while now and been reading these forums quite often. Oh, and of course, I've been stalking CJ since last summer (how many of you true AGSrs can say that?) Yet I decided to join the forums not until yesterday.

My English is poor, I usually got nothing relevant to say, I will use 1337speak, I've got no sense of humor and most of the time I'm a self-centered moron. Ok, just kidding. I don't use leetspeak.

I enjoy playing adventure games (who doesn't?) and once tried to make one with my friend. Naturally I didn't know about AGS back then and got stuck trying to write a complicated scripting language with C++. Needless to say that project was cancelled. When I later saw all the stuff you can do with AGS, I was amazed and pissed off, actually I heard myself saying:"WHy hadnT I heRAd about ThIS earlieR??!?!?11"

Yep, well, see you on the forums.

General Discussion / Re: Stupid Forum Quotes

I once saw this on some forum. It's not very stupid, but I found it pretty funny:

- Dude, I'm fed up with my girl. I think I'm going to get a new one.
- Man, are you crazy? Aren't those mpgs like 50 mb's or something..

And this was on time before fast internet connections.
