I haven't managed to keep in touch with ProgZ (or many of you, apologies), in the last few years, but he was always kind, encouraging and someone whom I admired. His games were my favourite on here, I loved the sneak previews and tech demo's he used to send me, I think I still have one somewhere. I thought about reaching out last year when I stumbled upon his twitter, but figured too much time had passed and he probably wouldn't even remember me. I will always cherish the amazing memories he gave me, be it in pm's or in the stories he told in his games. I might not have known him well, but I will definitely miss him.

RIP ProgZ

Phantasmagoria scared the crap out of me when I was 10 and I haven't grown a pair to play it again. Think it was:

AGS wise, you can't go wrong with Yahtzee's Chzo Mythos (5 days a stranger etc)

Hi Guys,

Found a little bugsy

Spoiler
When getting attacked by papa zombie, I pressed escape in my panic (to pause the game whilst I worked out what to do - which it didn't do of course) to find that he fell through the floor. Because the menu screen was still up, when the amended postcard arrived, it did not offer me a return button, and thus Kathy lived an eternity, brokenhearted, staring at a postcard of her long lost father. The End.

I nearly cried when I realised that I hadnt saved in hours. Thankfully autosave wasn't too far.

Also, I would like to say that I indeed purchased the game and played it (over other adventure games in my backlog), and whilst it wasn't what I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm surprised to hear it is not doing so well. I'll be honest though, I only found out you had completed the game by luck, as I don't come on here very often anymore. If I had visited a few days earlier, I might not have picked up this game for a few months.

I don't know much about what point and click adventures make, what you have made, and what you expected to have made (although I am curious to know if you are willing to share, via reply or pm), but in my instance it's a PR issue - I just wasn't aware the game was releasing / was close to releasing and since I last saw the GiP thread about a year ago (I know they get updated, but I don't religiously read them) the game was at the back of my mind.

My I also suggest that mobile markets might get a bit of interest in this, if you can optimise it correctly and get some pr behind it.

Maybe you've had this exposure before and I haven't noticed but Shardlight got some coverage off a pretty big site

Never had any issues with Mediafire before. Might want to check you haven't caught something else elsewhere

On to the game, really enjoyed it. Nice to have an engaging short game to pick up and play every once in a while instead of marathon adventures!

Hope to see more stuff from you and hopefully some original artwork, although I understand the struggle to get that out there when you are not an artist!

First congrats on the release. I played the original 3, and I QA tested the original Nancy, so I know James' stuff is pretty darn good. Been looking forward to this for a while (and resisted offers to test the game, which was very difficult!!)

Just a quick question, the steam page lists this as having Steam Cloud. I got up this morning (ok this afternoon... who am I kidding I'm still in bed!!) hoping to get a couple of hours in on the laptop, but my saves don't seem to have magic'ed over. Am I doing something wrong or is that an error in the store description?

It's apparently a regional affectation, and I've just moved in recent years to the region that's affected.

Ah that explains it, had me confused for a minute there as I've travelled all over the UK and not heard it used in that way!! You meant American not English!! Those folks like to do some strange things with the language over there!! ;)

On that subject, things like capitalize, institutionalized and scrutinize (which I suppose I'm kinda doing here heh) are Americanised versions of the word. The proper English way to do it is to use 's' not 'z'. So capitalise, institutionalised and scrutinise.

That annoys me as much as the incorrect usage of 'their , they're, there' - and I've seen myself do it a few times!!!

Hope you all had a great time!!

Sorry I couldn't make it this year, accommodation and stuff was just too expensive so close to xmas, and I couldn't get the time off anyway
#11
Unlikely I will be there this year, I would have to fend for myself for accomodation (my buddy doesn't live in London anymore) and I doubt I could afford the london tax on a hotel, although have you finally got confirmation on place and dates just in case?

Oh man, I've only just seen this!

Congrats on the release was really looking forward to this. I'll be honest I was dubious about it when the kickstarter came out (I never played the QFG games and it didnt look my bluecup of tea), but the demo was excellent.

Buying now!!!

and a mac port makes my whole buying an overpriced laptop instead of going on holiday this year that little bit sweeter :)

I think Ponch still uses AGS version 2.54, or something like that, and publishes his games with Direct Draw. (roll)  With my graphics driver I always have to add these dll files (zipped) to the game folder of these old-style games in order for the screen to update properly.  Let me know if that helps.

That worked a treat Baron cheers!!

I believe I also had the same issue with your game too (even though it was running in d3d) but it fixed this too

:)

My dearest Ponch

Is there a reason why the cursor doesn't react in full screen mode? I've been dying to laugh at those crazy canucks ever since I finished 2034 A.C I!!!!!

Chapter 2
Spoiler
Brown stinky milk - have the milk in the bucket, have the brimstone, but don't know how to get it to make the milk stinky.  So far all color combos that SHOULD make brown are making mud and dumping the milk.  Any hints?

Much obliged :)

Spoiler
There's a combo that makes the milk brown. As far as stinky, there's an object around the place on which you can use the brimstone.

Argh!! The boat!!!

Spoiler
How do you get past the guy on the boat. I've managed to escape the room but can't seem to figure out how to get past the second floor. I've tried hiding behind the door, can't go to the "poop deck" and if I go downstairs there's another guy there. Any ideas?

Chapter 2. This
Spoiler
door puzzle seems to have gotten the better of me. I have picked heart, bed, raindrops??, sword, yet it doesn't appear to be right. I would've thought the candle would be the answer to the 3rd riddle but the candle symbol does not appear in that list of blocks.

Anyone got any ideas on this. This game is really starting to make me question my own intelligence
