I did like that about Frisby's post - you can just imagine rolling your mouse over the hotspot and getting the labels pop up.

Re: status bar

I think a status bar that just tells you what buttons you've pressed ("Use switch", "Use knife on wall") is mostly pointless, but when it has some variety ("Throw switch", "Carve name on wall") it can add to a game, even if only in comedy value (III Spy's "Fumble with locked door" is a favourite of mine).  Either way, it's an optional extra, rather than a necessity, unless your interact/inventory graphics are particularly incomprehensible.  ;)

Yes.  Any chance of a progress report?  Please?

I always look forward to Yahtzee unleashing a new game on us, since Odysseus Kent they've always been pleasant surprises. The two horror games have been superb, I think he now needs to get back to comedy.

Aw, but I want to see 9 Days a Scrumper first.  C'mon let's have a trilogy.

Don't worry, I guessed about the bartender.  In fact I rather liked him.  Reminds me of an old Two Ronnies sketch (if you don't know what that means, don't worry, you're not missing a whole lot).

I think there were a couple more similar problems, perhaps I should play through again and pick them out.  When I can be bothered.

One thing I'll say is watch your commas.  The word "but" always needs a comma in front (unless you're using it to mean "except" as in "all but one").  Also, "Yes, you can," "No, I wasn't", and similar phrases requite commas (I've a feeling you missed at least one out).

I look forward to the third Melrin game.

I'm only a newbie, but don't the rules already say you should have a couple of screenshots?  So all you'd need to do is be harder on those who break the rules.

Just finished Melrin 2.  Good game.  I like the larger sprites and the whole spell-making thing.  Can I make a few spelling/grammar corrections?

In the spell instructions, "yoke" should be "yolk".

Captain calls you "laddy".  Should be "laddie".

"If that armored troll would notice me I would be pulverised."  Should be "If that armored troll notices me I will be pulverised."  (Technically "If that armored troll were to notice me I would be pulverised," is more correct, but no-one actually talks like that."

Fairy: "I don't know if you will have any use of it but I thought it couldn't harm to give it to you."  Should be "... any use for it, but I thought it couldn't hurt ..." or "... couldn't do any harm ..."

Watch the windsock when positioning your bow.  Naturally if the wind is from the right you need to aim right.  Then to fire line both arrows up with the red bar (hit space to start, then once each to line up the arrows).  It's hard - took me ages to get the hang of it.

Matches would be useful.Ã,  Plus you need some fuel.

Where you get the robe try "get broom".  Okay, so it's an old joke, but still funny.  "Party" gets a nice message, too.

Shockingly "smite Trogdor" gets a "don't understand" response.

Favourite bits:
Cliff climbing,
haystack,
Prof. Stephen Trogdor at the end.

I rather like Emily's downcast look, but it's your game, so do what you like.  Maybe if she looked more sulky or petulant it'd work, after all that would fit with the backstory.  The cute little shoes and dress simply must stay, though.

What do I think?Ã,  Wow!Ã,  Are those backgrounds 3D rendered?Ã,  Either way they're good.

As for Emily, I know most adventure game heroes are kleptomaniac vandals, but this is taking it to a whole new level.

By the way, I suspect the following to be a misprint:
QuoteShe pleaded not guilty, on the basis of insanity 1FEE .

The inventory should appear just by right-clicking.

Hello all, I'm Richard and I'm yet another Briton.  I'm a long time fan of adventure games, despite my first experiences of some classics being playing at a friends house with said friend looking over my shoulder telling me how stupid I am and how obvious it is that you use the rubber chicken on the rope crossing thing.

Yeah, I was PC-less myself so my idea of a classic adventure game involves rubber keys and an egg wearing boxing gloves (that's Dizzy on the ZX Spectrum for all you Philistines out there).

I know what you mean, that was flipping great.Ã,  More useful for cutscenes than a main location, I'd have thought, but still top.Ã,  Nevertheless here's mine:

It might be used in my RON game, but only after I've lowered the resolution.

Hints & Tips / Melrin - just got water crystal

I've just taken the hot air balloon, which dropped me on a clifftop.Ã,  Now what do I do, please?

EDIT:  Never mind.   Solved it by the age old "try everything on everything" method.

I had that problem too.Ã,  The welder just stood there and didn't move.Ã,  In the end I went through the bother of luring him outside again and this time it worked.

OneDude:  You need to be in the reactor room.

Hey, sorry.  I was trying to be helpful without giving too much away, rather than sarcastic.

You need to dry the screwdriver (obviously), but this doesn't require an inventory item.  Any further hint would be just about telling you the solution.
