Read here. The Direct3D enabled engine was actually introduced in a beta version of V2.80 (Refer to the last post of the linked thread. Note that there isn't an officially released V2.80, as the version number was later changed to V3.0 due to the huge updates).

The Direct3D mode bit is left out from change.txt (or, i.e. the official V3.0 release thread). As V3.0 contained major updates, CJ either forgot to add this to the change log or decided to leave out some of the changes so the change list won't be bloated.
That's interesting, I guess the addition of anti-aliased sprites with alpha channels wasn't cool enough to make the official changes list.

It now works in the new Direct3D-mode, in DirectX-mode you still have to choose between either or.
By the way, where/when was this announced? I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks, it is quite incredible the level of steady improvements made to the AGS engine.

Instead of creating a new thread I figured I'd bump this old one. Is there any way to do anti-aliased scaled sprites with alpha channels? Or was this added to AGS already?

Hints & Tips / Re: Downloading Cirque de Zale

Thanks a lot, it didn't work at first, but I found out what the direct download was and downloaded it straight. My computer must be having some kind of problem with the internet browser directing to the download instead of just linking straight to it. As long as I can do "Save Target As" I can download it.

Do you know of anywhere that I can get "7 Days a Skeptic"?

Hints & Tips / Downloading Cirque de Zale

I wasn't sure where to put this topic, oh well. The download for Cirque de Zale doesn't appear to be working, and for some reason I can't download from The Underdogs either, even when using the firewall download, is there anywhere else to get it? I didn't used to have any problems downloading from HotU, I don't know what's wrong now. I'm having the same problem trying to download "7 Days a Skeptic." They both look like awesome games. I sure wish I could download them.

Looking for artist to help with Sam and Max fangame. Job includes making comic-stills for cutscenes and maybe some secondary sprites. Email if interested (in my profile), send an example picture drawing Sam and Max. By the way, the game is being done in SLUDGE, if that turns anyone away.

Here's an example of art we've being doing so far: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/whoutsidecolor.jpg

As for the newest BG, it just needs some more detail,Ã,  textures on the wall, little grass patches on the ground and maybe a foreground.

Didn't he say he wasn't done with that background?

I like the background, very nice first attempt.
Thanks.  :)

I would say not to cut 'n paste the grey lines along the wall. Instead redraw them differently each time.
Who said to do that?

OK, I see what you're talking about with the depth thing, but the only shading you added was with the newly added depth, and I don't think you colored that right, with the depth the side and top would have to be lighter than the front, but now I'm giving you criticism about your criticism about my artwork.  :) I'll try drawing the sides and top and darken the front. I'll also try drawing a cartoony tree and see how I like it. As soon as I get some time, anyway.

Somehow I don't feel like I've been helped much. Is it so perfect you have nothing specific to say?Ã,  :P

This one is only a jpeg so that it is faster to download. I thought that the tree leaves might be kind of funny looking. I like the bush, but I might try re-doing the tree leaves to keep the cartoony style. LIke I said, I know nothing about art, so any specific suggestions and/or tutorials on shading and depth would be helpful. But really, I didn't want much depth for the background, as not much is planned for this background other than just walking in to the building.

I decided I wanted to try making an adventure game, here is my first try at a background: http://free.hostdepartment.com/b/bloosh/background.html

I have absolutely zero art experience, so I had mostly no idea what I was doing, and am completely oblivious to what I should improve/how good it is. Criticism is appreciated.
