Critics' Lounge / Re: Some music

Thanks for your comments, just to answer some of your points:
-the subject and countersubject were both my own invention (although afterwards, I realized it is similar to WTC II in A-flat...)
-I cannnot be held responsible for the form, as the professor made us follow an outline he gave us, and was very strict in marking deviations (so much for creativity...)
-the subject is given in V at measure 15

Anyway, thanks for your crits. I think you are definitely right about the proportions. I am working on my next fugue (which is goint to be WAY better). Will post it when it's done.

;D

Critics' Lounge / Some music

Here is a piece I wrote for a class a couple of years ago. I was wondering what people think about it (it is a fugue in the strict style for anyone who is interested).

Cheers!

Copyright issues are something else entirely. It's debatable whether you should do anything based on any Sierra or Lucas game, but those are already computer games, already merchandised, and already very commercial. C&H otoh is something that the single author (who is usually acclaimed for his brilliance) is fiercely protective of, and which is considered a form of art within its media, and it is kept away from commercialization.

So what I'm saying is - legally you can't do either. But ethically, I see nothing wrong with a Garfield game, but I strongly object to a C&H game.

(oh and btw there exist NO official C&H t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. Of course it's easy to stick a JPEG on any smooth surface, but that doesn't make it merchandisable)

As a fan of C&H, I don't think anyone could be more offended by the "calvin pissing" mechandise than I am. On the other hand, don't let these people dissuade you from doing what you want to do. All culture comes from previous culture, and even the CH characters were adapted from "Pogo". As long as you are not passing it off as waterson's work, I don't think you are in any way diluting the original.

Crits:

-Well, I get an error that room6.crm is not found, after some of the demo.
-the dialougue is not always in MI style. The characters should not use slang, and spelling needs to be checked
-I was bored by the long credits sequence-- If you "run out of things to say", then stop talking!
-(picky) Is Guybrush's walkcycle missing a frame? It looks kind of weird

Otherwise, looks good. I look forward to the game

Really awesome voice acting. I find the humour comes off much better outloud than just as text! I like the new music much better, too. Well, back to replaying the Apprentice.....

ps: it sure beats the TV show! especially this last season....

On the eye question, i found the small/ black eye style in the first two sketches to be quite charming and sort of a defining characteristic, so the new blue eye sketch seems like a totally different character. This is not to say the more realistic version isn't striking (especially in loominous' edit).

AGS Games in Production / Re: Hero Theorem

Looks awesome.

Since the tiltle involves a "Theorem", is this game about math, or does the tilte refer to some truth about heroism?

although I'm yet to meet a man (or woman, I suppose) who can masturbate over a boiled egg...

Hmm... a hard boiled egg would fit quite nicely down there....

Nahhh-- it would probably break up inside. Nice idea, though.

Last time: about 5 hours ago.
Addictive? Probably. My g/f and I do it about three or four times every time we see each other.
Premarital sex moral? why not (discounting religion)?
sin to mastubate? probably more of a sin to have sex outside of wedlock. most of us regularly offend God far more by some of the other things we do every day.

QuoteI also have had alot of trouble with masturbation. I'm glad I came free from that Thank God!, but it's also a sin.

Do you mean to say that you've stopped completely? How on Earth is that possible?

oh, and Ned Flanders, WHERE ARE YOUR FINGERS, YOU NAUGHTY MAN!

Hi.
I recently obtained Broken Sword 3, and it runs, but the title screen displays garbled and strange characters; the menus work, etc, but when I select the top option (presumably to start the game), te program crashes.
Has anyone experienced this, or does anyone know what I should be doing?

shhh...
_This_ is a game, and we're all playing it unwittingly....

I think Scumm looks quite dapper in that last photo. I don't see the Rowan Atkinson thing at all.

Spoiler
Sabotage her clothing so that they fall off during some crucial moment. Would be quite fummy, IMO
